I was paying £29.45 for XL TV, phone w/talk unlimited, 2mb broadband, it's gone up to £35.95 for some reason.
Anyway, We recently had sky movies and sports added, and the V+ box which they wouldn't budge on, so bill will now be £60 odd.
Does anyone have a similar package? If so, how much are they paying please? I'm thinking of ringing up in a month or so. Have been with them for almost 8 years."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
Since ntl has been taken over by Virgin they do not give discounts out, with ntl I was asking for discounts every few months and getting it but now no luck so far expect for their special discount deals that are on the website.0

Does anyone manage to get the VIP package at a lower rate? My mom has been on this for a few months now, was wondering whether it's worth her calling up too?Mother, wife, scientist, analyst.

With NTL I used to get discounts knocked off my bill every month and / or extra services added.
I ended up even after they changed to Virgin with fastest b/b, basic tv ( I don't watch it that often ) and free landline calls day, night and weekend.
I was getting this all for less than half the normal price, paying about £36 a month, after they discounted me approx £42 a month.
Sadly my tv box packed up and after the engineer had come out, they rejigged my bill and took the discounts away, so my next bill was £66.00.
I have since renegotiated to ; med b/b ( speeds are increasing November free anyway, free phone calls and XL tv inc Satanta for £36 a month...
That will do for now for me.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Where did you hear about the broadband upgrades? The woman in retentions told me everyone on 4mb will be getting a free upgrade to 10mb by the end of the year but I have never seen this written anywhere & not many people have been told the same by Virgin.0

I would just like to warn those who are going to try to contact virgin media about either a complaint or getting a cheaper service (frankly at best its average). Make a day of it because they are by far the worst customer service telephone line I have ever encountered.
To my mind this level of inadequate staffing does not warrant the prices they charge so its no wonder they offer it cheaper and dont want us to leave.
This months Which? magazine comments on Virgin medias poor customer relations and I can say that it is no exageration.0 -
Which number are you ringing for the cheaper service? I rang the 0800 number and was put through in like 10 mins tops!0

Very much depends where you live, and when you call, reductions never been a problem if you threaten to leave. seems quicker now than in the past. Just hope I dont live to regret saying that.:rolleyes:ac's lovechild0 -

XL tv
M bb
L Phone for £57!!! More than sky and no sky sports channels, told the bloke that it was a rubbish deal. He wanted me to sign for this 'special deal' for 12 months too!!!!
any tips if I was to ring back and speak to someone else?
If I was to give them notice can I change my mind?
Well I rang them back thanks to some advise on www.virginmediauser.com (although that webby seems to be down now, does anyone know what happened to it?) and I got the above package which was offered to me for £57 the other day for £30, I am well chuffed with that, it was really quick and easy and the person who answered the phone was lovely and very helpful indeed.0 -
