Grieves, the first question I was asked by retentions was 'why are you leaving?' so of course I told them that they were too expensive, and other providers offers were starting to get very tempting.
At that point, I had a decent offer, and a nice chat.
Unfortunately it seems that it depends who you get when you ring, and the offers do seem to change continually. Considering you've been with them for 2 years now, you are ripe to ring them. Just be nice, and point out the cost. It helps to have a price comparison site open so you can quote current offers (in case they ask), but not necessary.
Call them and see what happens. You're not tied to making a decision there and then.0 -

hi all,
I tried this today, and they wouldnt budge an inch on install costs. i have a 'backup' internet connection in the form of 2mbit broadband and wanted to move my sky services across.
Wanted:
Phone - L
Broadband - XL
TV - XL
The offered the lot for 53quid, but there was a stipulation that it would go up to 61quid after 12mths.
the kicker though was the install costs of a stupendous 150quid..... and u still have nothing u can flog on ebay at the end
anyone beaten this? if so ... how??
cheers, dave.0 -
if the £150 is for v+, the only way to avoid that charge is to take the VIP package0

I pay nearly 39quid for Starter package tv (not sure on size, seems to be inbetween M and L) M phone, M broadband.
Rang them after seeing sky deal of £35 for Full TV with all sky sports channels, telephone and same broadband and was offered a rubbish deal of..
XL tv
M bb
L Phone for £57!!! More than sky and no sky sports channels, told the bloke that it was a rubbish deal. He wanted me to sign for this 'special deal' for 12 months too!!!!
any tips if I was to ring back and speak to someone else?
If I was to give them notice can I change my mind?0 -
We were paying £39 p/m for M TV, M Phone, XL BB since we joined in May.
Called today and said we'd seen on the Sky website we could get XL TV, XL Phone and XL BB for less plus a free Sky+ Box if someone referred us.
So we were offered XL TV, M Phone, XL BB and year's free XBox Live Gold (OH had a flyer in his Halo 3 offering it to new Virgin BB customers, we asked for it as we were signing for a new 12 month term today) for £37 p/m. So paying two quid less a month and got free xbox live and a massive tv upgrade.
We tried for a free V+ box too but he was adamant he wasn't able to give this for free, said there wasn't even the option to on the system, I think that's probably rubbish cos I'm sure some of you have had it free, but we're happy with what we have for now and will phone back next month to try to get bigger phone and try again for the V+!Mother, wife, scientist, analyst.

i think those that had it free probably pay the extra per month, as i was offered that this week too.
negotiated for my dad yesterday, got xl phone xl tv £20, plus a £10 sim = £30 a month instead of the £80 he was paying.0
