:hello: Hey Mummyjane - welcome and good luck. It's like one of those old towns in the western films with dust bunnies here at the moment, Everyone must be bust with the TMA! How are you finding the course and fitting it in?

Hey sneezy - haven't logged in for a couple of days - how it's all sorted for you now :)

Take care and good luck all

  • Hey all!!

I'm slightly excited today... I got my confirmation through for my Understanding Society course! Woohoo!!!

Just slightly concerned about my financial application for DD100. I sent that off well over a month ago. Do you think it's too soon to chase them? I'm just worried about not getting the funding, as I certainly can't afford to pay.

Hope you are all getting on well with the tma!!!

    xx

  • Hi psycopathbabble

It took me weeks to get my finance application sorted out, about 6 weeks I think. Whenever, I phoned up to chase them up I found they were quite rude to speak to. I also emailed them twice, and got a reply which I think was rather rude as well.

I phoned up earlier this week as well to ask about the computer grant, was told I wouldn't likely to be eligible in spite of being successful in getting a course grant which I've yet to receive. The woman was a bit miserable too!

Hope you have better luck than me.

Anyone got there Study grant yet? I'm getting told 1 thing IE "Oh you will have it by the end of the week" and to phone the student loans company if I have any issues, they tell me they know nothing about it.

How far into your course are you, they usually pay it (i've only received it once) within a month of your course starting/first tma being received to make sure you don't/not likely to drop out.
Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos
  • I'm not starting til February so I'm probably not top priority! It's just that someone else I know who started it in Oct had hers sorted out within 3 weeks of applying, and it was well before the course started! x

  • Hi everyone

I am starting DB123 in November - anyone else here?

I finished my MA with the OU last year, but decided I'd like to keep my hand in and this course sounded good, plus being really relevant.

Good luck to all with your studies.

I suspect applications in the first half of the year (Feb-July) are processed faster because they have fewer courses starting in October, and especially if you apply early.

DS's grant letter arrived this morning, saying payment made on 15th.
  • Also may just be worth mentioning - I have a Natwest student account (W200 starts Feb 2008). You can't have the overdraft until Feb next year!
    Best wishes
