MS221 exam tomorrow morning. I was feeling fine about it until I drove past the exam centre & saw the OU sign outside, now I have a stomach full of butterflies! Going to try a couple more past papers today & then pack my bag.0

Awwww, good luck SWMBO, I'm sure it will be fine
I'm hoping to do that course next year, along with MST121 - how have you found it? Is it the first OU course you have done or did you do MST121 too?
Have a dodgy hug :grouphug: - we'll be thinking of you tomorrow - please pop back and let us know how you got on
:hello: SC - Hope it's all going well. I remember having to tell the girls that, as lovely as the thought was, feeding their baby brother their dinner/sandwiches/lego wasn't a good idea and that whilst that dress is extremely pretty, he won't thank you for trying to dress him in it lol"I married beneath me, all women do." - Nancy Astor 1879-1964

Anyone else ran into this problem? This is my second year doing 60 points worth of courses with the Open University. Motivation is a problem, but not as you might think, I love the studying, I have no problem coming home and getting stuck in, Its motivation at work, since I started studying something I love it has made me realise how much I hate my job, its in a totally different field than what I am studying, I'm studying IT, I work in a factory, I look at all my workmates they are all into there work and have an interest, I have no interest at all, I only have 60 points so a long long way to go yet before I can leave. Grrrrr:mad: When you are doing something you love you dont need motivationThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hope its ok if I jump in?? At least you are doing something nirelandguy - have a look around & see what else is going? Albeit maybe not a good time on the jobs front? I'm sure any employers would commend you for what you are doing...studying and working not easy....
I finshed my course last week & hopefully my degree (13 yrs - long story). I start a new degree next year and I can't wait to start again...0 -
Just submitted my last CMA (45)
So now i just have to finish S186 before 31st October!
Then i have two months before MS221 and MST121 start....what have i let myself in for?Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
:hello: Hi all! Hope it's going well
nirelandguy - helloI'm sorry to hear about your work situation. Does your completed 60pt course offer a certificate with it? I know some do (the DD100 attracts a 'certificate in Social Sciences' for example), maybe you could put that on your CV and circulate it speculatively? Failing that I really don't know what to suggest (not helpful, I know!). And, like mouseymousey99 says, you are doing something very worthwhile and the job isn't forever - there are many many employers (if not, all) who rate the OU very highly for the level of commitment it requires - you are rapidly becoming a 'very marketable commodity'
Take care and come and have a moan/chat on here when you want to
mouseymousey99 - hello. 13 years - now that's dedication! Congratulations on finishing your degree and good luck with the next. I think the OU is a little like your sig - I must not pick more courses, I must not pick more course, I must not............ooooooooo I like the look of that
What was your degree, may I ask, and what are you studying next year? I bet you'll miss it between now and then.
Sneezy - hello:j:j on your last CMA and good luck with S186! I'd love to know how you get on with MS221 and MST121 - could you keep us updated please? I've just enrolled on the Oct 09 MST121 (the course list at the side of my studenthome page is getting way too long now :rotfl: )
SWMBO - How did it go? Been thinking about you this morning and hoping the OU gods were kind
SC - Hoping it's going well, hun - good luck with that TMA. Take care x
supermoneysaving2008 - Have you started your course yet? How's it going? Are you doing it as a stand-alone course or have you more planned?
luckyme - haven't seen you for a while - how's it going? Is your TMA due soon too?
bankersmug - Haven't seen you for a while either - did you get the info needed on your tutorials? My first one is next week but I can't make itHow's the course going?
psychopathbubble - Hows the psych going? Is that one of the 10 point courses?
coljacks - How's the course going? How are you finding fitting in the time? That's the bit I'm struggling with slightly as I keep getting out my DD100 books and getting waylaid by MU120 - I'm hoping my motivation for DD100 comes shortly or I'm going to struggle!
Good luck all, take care and speak soon

Hello All!
Hope you are all getting on well with DD100 plus the others!?
HS - I didn't get on the Pysch course which is a bummer, especially when I had to chase them about it all! It was just 10 points, but am now signed up for the Intro to Society (I think?) 10 point course... I was too scared to just jump straight into a 60 point course with no experience of the OU before.
Now I am just keen and eager to get started and focus on something outside of my job! (the oil crisis and aviation aren't mixing too well, possible redundancies on the way :-( ) The 10 points one starts next month, I really can't wait!!!
Good luck with all your TMAs xxBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Absolutely. When I first started studying with the OU I got a job on the basis of having completed a couple of courses. All the other people recruited at the same time as me had relevant experience, so the OU courses must have held some sway. My advice would be to list the courses you've studied on any application forms. Employers like OU students because they've shown motivation & ability to learn.SWMBO - How did it go? The general concensus over on the course forum is that today's exam was a bit of a stinker. Almost everyone seems to have struggled for time. However I really enjoyed the course & wouldn't want to put anyone off doing it! I would recommend lots of practice papers in the final weeks though.
Thats another thing I wondered, How many of you's doing an open uni course have a job in the same field? I am doing M255 at the min, We had to post about ourselves on firstclass, all the others already have degrees or well paid jobs in IT, I have a job in something no where near IT, infact we dont even have a computer at work. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
