did the listing fees for books and small media change fairly recently?
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html scroll down to media products the fvf fees are different for books too.
scrap tha
5p for 99p and under 10p for all others even its its £100
final value fees are 9% on these items though.0 -
I find Amazon brilliant for selling books - really easy to use and you don't pay anything until the book sells.
Just look up your book, when you have found the right edition, click 'Sell yours here' and enter the details of condition and description.
You will get a standard postage allowance of (I think) £2.32, so for heavy books, be sure to set the price high enough to cover excess postage costs.

thats great! i stopped selling in auction format because the unsold items cost so much to list and so few sold!
i will give auctions a try again!
unfortunately that means that so will other people so that may drive prices down
an option when selling books on ebay is using the buy-it-now option. I just searched for a book, of which there are 7 copies for sale. most copies are for sale at around £3 including postage. one seller has it for £13 including postage and has sold 10% of their 10 000 book stock in the last month!
you can put the buy it now price towards the high end of the range and accept 'best offers' to try and maximise sales & sale price0 -

Just wanting a bit of advice really, i have a basement full of books in good condition just sitting there collecting dust and I am in dire need of some fast cash. Does anyone know the best way I can sell the books off, even if its just a few quid each, its better than nothing!!!!
Amazon is quicker for listing. Their fees for sold items are steep, but unlike eBay, there are no listing fees paid for unsold items.0 -
i agree, you could list a 100 books and youde be lucky to sell, say 10 at a quid each.
may as well just give em to oxfam and have done with it.
unless they really are desirable books. ie non fiction usually sell ok.Get some gorm.0 -
You could try good old fashioned car booting or if you live on a street where lots of people walk by put on a 'garage' sale. I sold all DD little tykes stuff by putting on my garden wall with a sign saying £5 each. Man came along and haggled with DD and bought the lot:T .
If you can't sell them and really want to dispose of them your library might be grateful or your local school. You could also ask your local hospital if they have a lending library. You won't get any money for them but you will be putting them to good use.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

The only thing you may find with this site although it is free & easy to use. I personally find it very slow selling items. I have sold one in 3 months.
Good luck if you do use them0 -
on green metropolis i have sold about 20 books over the last few months - i sell several a month - i suppose it comes down to if you got the sort of books people want - i think it is more long term but once there listed you can sit back and wait - unlike ebay which i find alot more work. i have listed loads and add to now and again with it being free - you got nothing to lose - i have banked up to 80 pounds obviously this includes pandp - i have made about 65 pound ish - and one thing to remember is you are helping the environment which is even better - good luck with anyone who trys it0

I use Greenmetropolis and they are very reliable. Have been given the link to bookmooch.com also, haven't used that one yet. That site is more of a swap site than selling.:j2008: New Year, New me!:j
