  • I would suggest you search on Amazon to see what prices your books are currently listed at then do a 'completed items' search on ebay and see what the difference is, one may be better than the other.

Bear in mind that you can list on amazon with no photo, no fees for as long as you like, you only pay the fees when you sell something.

With ebay you get a 10 day run at it and if it doesn't sell then you're out of pocket. Don't misunderstand me, I love ebay and sell there full time but if find amazon better for books, and cds etc

I prefer Amazon for books. I haven't been very successful selling books on ebay, but have had lots of sales of Amazon and the prices have been better. It's worth trying it as there are no fees as apprentice tycoon pointed out. Bear in mind that if your books are commonly available paperbacks you won't make a fortune anywhere! Have you had a look at http://www.greenmetropolis.com/? I haven't had much luck selling with them, but I know people who have done.

    Amazon - see this thread
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

Having a huge clearout of stuff..

Have listed loads of books on Ebay, hadn't considered selling on Amazon.

Which is the best site for selling books?? A lot of the books I have listed haven't been sold, so will relist, but maybe I should try Amazon??
  • I sell books on ebay and to be honest unless you have something unusual you don't get very much for them. Amazon is a better idea for run of the mill books as listing is free. I usually look up a completed listing on ebay for a book I have and then see how many are currently listed.......if loads then you are wasting your money.

    I hope this helps.
  • You could also list on Greenmetropolis for free and Play.com.

  • Postage for textbooks can creep up to £10 via Royal Mail! is there a cheaper way to deliver a heavy textbook?

  • I'm planning on doing a boot fair at the weekend to get rid of loads of stuff. However I have more stuff than I can fit in the car, so will have to spread it over 2 or 3 fairs.

I have a lot of boxes of books, mainly paperbacks, but should I try to take as many of these as possible or will other general items sell better? Is it worth just taking a couple of boxes of books and using the rest of the space for other items?

If you price your books sensibly they will go. I bought some at a car boot on Saturday at 4 for a pound and bought them to read on the train going to work. However some sellers were asking 75p-£1 for a paperback novel, which I wasn't prepared to pay.
