Not seen an increase of spam but please don't bother with this site.
    Hi Angelic,

A possibility is that if you have your SPAM filter turned on, it might just get dealt with there.

For my GMAIL that is what happened ie it was just sitting in SPAM folder.

But for my other e-mail account I get no SPAM so have turned off the SPAM filter (Can't turn off SPAM filter with GMAIL), and that is how I first noticed the e-mails.
Today, I recieved a spam email with a ‘To’ address that contained the name ‘ChemistDirect’. I bought some earplugs from them half a year ago.
The email wasn’t ‘From’ Chemist Direct, and it was offering me Viagara.
Interesting post jameswiseman, combined with my experience posted above
(not my first forum post for any doubters)
provides further evidence of SPAM issues with ChemistDirect.

I used them once in Oct 2008. The unique email address they were provided with has started to receive Viagra spam originating from India.

    Don't do business with spammers.
  • I ordered a couple of items from chemistdirect about a month ago which arrived promptly. I am now recieving spam emails to the unique address I used for chemistdirect. Either their security is inadequate or they are passing on customers email addresses. I will not be using them again.

Received SPAM definetly due to Chemist Direct

Had two registrations, one on a brand new GMail account

Interesting, over the last week or so I've been getting spam on an email address I used with Chemist Direct. They typically come in batches of 3 (or more) identical emails sent a few minutes apart, much the same as those shown above.

My email account is set up such that all mails sent to @JamesWiseman.com will end up in the same mailbox. So, think of a word, put it in front of @JamesWiseman.com, send me an email, and I will get it.
So, when I sign up for SomeService.com, the email address I give is ‘someservice@jameswiseman.com’.

Like all of the above users, I registered with a unique email address (probably about two years ago) and started receiving spam email on it last week.

I work in IT in a major financial services company and have to deal with security risks every day. I know enough to be certain that their security has been compromised, either on the website, direct to their customer database, or to some other place that they hold the email addresses of all their customers. Either that, or they've knowingly sold all our email addresses.

Yet, when I called to alert them, they didn't really want to know and have never called back!

The damage is done. They have compromised an unknown number (perhaps all) of their customers' personal details and demonstrated that they are not fit to do business with. Anyone that divulged any personal medical or health details - and remember that this is a site that sells prescription medication - is at risk of their data being available not just to spammers, but to anyone in the darker corners of the Internet. I feel lucky that I only ordered dental floss and shaving soap!

The only mitigating circumstance is that they appear to use an external provider for their credit and debit card services, so HOPEFULLY those details will not have been set loose in the wild.

If you're in the same boat as me and those above, call ChemistDirect (0845 259 0175), complain, and say that you want this referred to their Chief Exec and founder. Perhaps then they'll sit up and listen.

But until they find the problem, own up to it, contact everyone affected telling them what data has been lost, and finally fix it, I strongly recommend that you avoid the ChemistDirect website completely.

I take that back about the credit card details. I've just logged onto their website, and they seem to be holding my card details - at least part of the number is displayed.

Look out for fraudulent transactions on your credit card if this has also been compromised.
  • Damn you Chemist Direct
Just under 100 SPAM e-mails received today!!
  • Useless company - avoid at all cost.

My parcel was delivered by Home Delivery Network (another useless organisation) and left outside my front door. I live in a terraced street with no front gardens, so that's basically "in the road". Where it was run over, then resuced by a neighbour. HDNL's webiste reported that the parcel had been left "in a secure location at the front of the house". Because public roads are extremely secure, as we all know. Chemist Direct say that my argument is with HDNL - which it is not. My contract as a buyer is with the seller, not the delivery service.

I'll sort it eventually, but they are NOT WORTH THE HASSLE just to save a few pennies if your goods ever arrive in one piece. Steer clear is my advice.
  • Gosh. This really suprises me. I've used the site a few times in the last year or two for pet products & haven't received any extra spam over and above the odd one or two I get a day. Shall watch out now though. Thanks for the heads up OP

I wish I'd seen this thread before I ordered from them last week. The company's an absolute joke. I ordered last Monday. I just called them, after being on hold for ages, and was told, 'your order hasn't gone out, I'll try and see if it can go out today'. "I'l try and see" - great service, eh?

They're a joke - avoid at all costs.
