Due to comfort factor I prefer wearing Cotton shirts and trousers. My main problem is Ironing! No matter how hard I do the Ironing I cant seem to get rid of the creases.
Other problem is just after one wear I need to put the clothes for washing as it just forms lot of Creases! Ideally I would love if I can wear a shirt for atleast 2-3 times before putting it to wash.
I use Morphy richards Steam Iron. Its not one of the super expensive one's Steam Generator Iron!
What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I heard using Starch spray on cotton clothes but I couldnt find anything in the supermarket -Maybe I didnt know what to look out for! Store Assistants didn't have a clue as well
I'll really appreciate any thoughts and tips!0 -
Morning Andy!
Try ironing the cottons while they are still damp (e.g. straight from the wash - or spray them with water (you can get a plastic sprayer bottle from most garden centres)).
The stuff you are looking for in the supermarket is spray starch (not sure if the typo "Strach" is yours or if you are the innocent 'victim' of someone else's)
You can usually find spray starch just along the shelf from the washing powder and fabric conditioners - where the things like laundry Vanish, Bounce and other specialist treatments can be found.
Best wishes to you. xx
P.S. A man who irons - can I have your number?! Hehehe:D;)

If you can, take them from the washing machine as soon as it finishes and then iron them dry. That way the creases don't have time to "set".
Also depending on what sort of shirt you want M&S do non iron formal cotton shirts - OK so they are pricey at £25 each but I've found them to be OK as long as you get them out of the dryer pretty quickly and hang them up. Trouble is the range is limited so I tend to have a couple for days where there isn't going to be time to iron a shirt, and have the normal ones for most days. If you go for the Cotton Oxford thick shirts, they are a nightmare for creases both when first ironed and when worn. The more standard cotton ones tend to be a bit more forgiving and quicker to iron - with those I tend to tumble dry them, hang them up quick to avoid creases, and then its just a quick couple of minutes in the morning to get rid of the minor creases for the perfectly pressed look!Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Yes, I have some of those M&S one's and they are good - easy to maintain. I have some nice cotton Van Heusen shirts (bought them on sale), lovely thin cotton shirt but painful to Iron and easily gets creased. By the end of the day it looks like I have been working in the Mine! I think the starch spray should help, need to try it out.
I think where we are going wrong is that we let the clothes stay in the washing machine for a while (3-4 hrs) before we put it up for Drying.
BTW whats the best way to use the starch spray, spray it on shirt before ironing or after ironing?0
