My wife used a budget priced Proline steam iron for years and it was excellent. When it gave up the ghost recently I looked for another but they do not offer a comparative model, so after googling, tried the Tesco RSS 2010 (£10) and it is useless, although it has 2kw heating and all of the features shown on more expensive irons. So it is going back to Tesco and I wondered if anyone can recommend a good steam iron, but not at silly prices. Up to £20-25 is about enough I think. Also not a heavy one as my wife has arthritis and needs a lightweight one. Please, no silly comments about why don't I do the ironing, as my wife will not let me near it!!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

Sorry , I can't help with the iron as I use a Morphy Richards Comfygrip which are quite heavy.
What I need to know is where I can get a decent ironing board from as the one I have now is approx 15 years old has been re-foamed and recovered numerous times and is now a little wonky. Plus my sons have grown into giants and I need a larger surface to iron their clothes.0 -

Have no idea if these are decent but they definitely look (and cost) heavy duty. I think they're for the professional ironer!i before e, except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour0 -
Hi Ive got a Bosch steam generator and loved it. Now the handle is heating up, its roasting, need gloves to hold it. The steam is coming out over the sides of the soleplate and not throught the base.
Its only about three years old and.

I had a similar thing happen with a different brand of iron. They actually replaced with a new one. Definitely give them a ringLife isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's about learning to dance in the rain.0 -

We live in a rented furnished property where 'our' ironing board is a pretty old beldray. the metal plate bit is OK,but we've had no luck finding a replacement for the fitted fabric cover. Everything seems too small of too big and fall off! Seeing that we are not too handy sewing and mending stuff, how difficult could it be to make something that'll last a few years and fit perfectly? Also, some of the covers seem to be so pricy (£10& above) is this a good investment at all as not too keen to spend that much?0
