  • I iron as I go - never do a pile just iron the clothes I am going to wear that day.
  • Lostinrates and others,

thank you for the great tips.

I tend to agree that good attitude helps a lot. When I am in "the mood", it is not a chore at all. But when I think how much I hate it, that's when it becomes a real chore.
I am afraid, I don't have a dryer, if I did, I might not have ironed them at all.

I like the idea of scented water and perhaps being dressed nicely, not in some old rags might help feeling better.
    Great suggestions, thanks!
  • Hiya all,

Need some ironing board advice! I want to buy a board that is as wide as possible as my current standard board is rubbish for doing bedding and other large items.
Any recommendations? I have seen one in Tesco Direct for £17.12 and is 158x47cm (item 204-6751).

    Cheers peeps:D

  • Hi all. I iron in my conservatory. I however have a problem. Sometimes i leave the iron to cool on the windowsill. If i am off out it may stay there for a few hours before being put away. I have not been doing this for long but have noticed green alge (like in a fish tank) in the water tank. Can anyone suggest a way of getting rid of it?

    Cheers.

Hi I`ve got a Steamworks generator iron, model G-1030st ,bought from argos.True to form I`ve lost the instructions and the filter needed changing(the red filter light was flashing)so changed filter with spare but the filter light refuses to stop flashing ,has anyone got one of these irons and could let me know how I should have changed filter.Obviously the new filter is fine but its the annoying flashing light , cant stop looking at it!

I'm moving house so need to buy a new ironing board. But why is it that all the new ones have the hole in the iron rest so that the iron can rest at an angle? I just want a flat solid rest for my iron. Where can I find a decent sturdy, reliable, non-expensive ironing board? Oh how I miss Woolworths! (That's where my old ironing board came from. £14 and it lasted well over 15 years)
I did buy one recently from Homebase but had to take it back because it was extremely wobbly when ironing and my iron didn't fit quite so comfortably in the rest for my liking. I expected better quality for £25.

    How to stop the light:

    1 fill water tank
    2 insert new filter
    3 power iron on
4 once the flashing light starts, press the steam and power buttons at the same time and hold until you hear a click (this can sometimes power off if you dont get the buttons at the same time)

    This should help.

Most of the time I prefer free-flow pants that don’t need ironing at all. Using steam press, adjustment of board according to personal height, posture and ironing the clothes with little moisture makes the task considerably easy.

I spend a fortune on Vapouresse. Is there a way I can make my own. Not sure what things I can use to make the water smell or how to do it. Obviously I have perfume, mint is the garden and tea tree oil but don't fancy clothes smelling of tea tree oil.
