I'm afraid I iron them folded in half usually, then unfold and refold and iron the otherside. I then fold in quarters and iron again.....because some how the fold you'v ironed in looks better when there is one both horizontally and vertically. If you tuble dry and get you sheets JUST as thy turn dry, and are still warm, then whack the bottom one on the bed THEN iron it on the bed it looks and feels excellnt, then I iron th top one in quarters, whack that on and then iron that out smooth (no folds) unless it has to be put in the linen cupboard. I actually do NOT tumbl dry ever anymor so I use my folding method, but I still i still iron my sheets out on the bed.:o

OK, I like ironing, but I haven't always. I learned to love iron the same time I learned to hate central heating! (I don't use CH for mdical reasons, and keeping busy kes you quite warm on bitter days, ironing gets you REALLY warm:o ). I think part of th trick is to chang the way you view ironing. Using some scnted water in your spray bottle turns it from a chore into an aromatherpy steam session :o, playing some lovely singalong music is fun. Now, this might only apply to CH prudent people in a loving rlationship, but when you have ben wrapped up in loads of clothes and feling unglamouress, getting the nice scented water out and warming up mans you can have, er, fewer clothes on...and ironing can become even more of a treat:o

I like suggestion 4 in the post before too :)

  • We just hang clothes from the washer onto hangers finger pressing collar and placket; slacks' imaginary crease. Same for linens. Take time to dry and adds moisture in our dry climate. If they don't air dry soft, pitch in dryer with a softner sheet or new tennis ball for under 5 minutes.

  • I love ironing. It's one of those times when I can be on my own, as hubby and kid will leave me alone to my basket loads to go thru. I'll just put a cd on, and gets loads of cups of tea brought to me. I do go into a meditative mode of some sort.

After 5 years, our Minky ironing board finally collapse on us. It rusted away at the bottom of the board, so the tubular legs slipped and collapse with a big bang!! That snapped me out of my meditative mode LOL!!

After much research online, because of this rusting issue, we've decided to buy a plastic one, Lotus, from Argos. Not cheap but worth every penny.

It is sturdy, non-slipping, and virtually possible to adjust to whatever height you want. I have had a fascinating time, adjusting and re-adjusting it cm by cm, till I got it at a satisfied height. And the board so huge and wide, that I can pile my kid's clothes on one end, ironed it, and piled it up on the other end.

The only complain is the covering is too thin but we suspect it might be like that for a reason, for ventilation for the steam. But anyhow, I've slipped on top of it, my old ironing cover, making it thicker, but this somehow, interfered with the locking device when collapse, to be put away.

I haven't found any fantastic iron tho, but is happy with my Tefal. Tried one of those with big steam tank thing, it was more trouble than it's worth.

Hi, I Iron the duvet on the bed after I have made it - however I find if I get it out of the washing machine as soon as it stops and put it straight in the dryer, then get it straight out of the dryer it does not have many creases.
