What a relief i wanted to shout yyyyyyiiiiipppppeeeee but contained myself. Ok maybe i should not have felt like that as i had got myself into the that much debt but i had tried hard over the last 10 years to control it
I felt exactly the same. Exactly the same. What a great feeling it was. I remember walking out of the court building and thinking to myself, 'I might only have £3.50 in my pocket right now, but its all mine.' I dont think i have ever felt richer.
It was the day i got my life back.0 -
Thanks for all the comments and for all the support over the last year. This forum has changed me massively in a really positive way and that has helped me to now help others.
I dont know where the year went but like you say Martin what i have now is mine even though its not that much. But i smile now knowing i can get on with me life and never go near credit again.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

I cant believe its nearly 6 months since i put anything on this diary but i think its about time i gave an update.
When i went BR i struggled with the idea of telling friends and family about my BR but in the last few months i am glad i did as a few friends have needed my help and 2 of which i helped through BR themselves after i made them call the CAB and CCCS to ensure that BR was there only option as i have always been careful not to make BR sound like peoples only option even though i am certainly not a fan of IVA's. The simple fact is though if i had not told people then they would not have asked for help and its surprising how many people have debts which are close to or out of control.
For me its been a taxing 6 months as i have still not found a job and even though i have applied for close to 150 jobs this year i did not get an interview for 1 job and because i have qualifications there is little extra help in training and the like but at least i have got used to living on a budget to the point i have just been happy to tax my car this year thanks to my budgeting to the penny and the fact that i discovered Post Office Saving Stamps so when the £190 car tax bill landed on the mat last week i just walked to the post office and paid that. Ok i have done nothing exciting at all this year and have struggled just to go and see my mum and dad just 60 miles away as i could not afford it but at least i have held my head above water and can actually look forward to Christmas this year.
I have to say 2009 has been ok for me although my health has taken a little battering hopefully the docs will soon sort me out soon and i will be back to 100% and someone has come to me who has a business but would like me to help them take it to the next level so i am hoping that through that i will see a job in the early part of next year so fingers crossed that comes off.
Next month will see me being discharged for over a year and i have to say i still sit some days and think god i wish i had sorted my debts sooner and went BR sooner than i did and saved myself a whole lot of stress. Yeah its stressful having debt and even more when you have to go down the road of BR but the relief you feel once the BR is out the way and you have had the OR interview is hard to explain as you dont really believe it but believe me although its hard after BR to budget and live without credit once you crack it you will love it as i do now.
Anyway im babbling now so to all you guys have a great Christmas & Happy New Year.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

I too was declared BR and now im discharged. My OH had to do the same but did it 6 moths after me. Lifes been hard, but like others i've manged. We have scrimpted and saved and took a 'special' holiday this year. We managed to go to florida, something prior to BR we never had a holiday!! I have 3 P/T jobs and my husband has a job now.
To all going though it about to, if BR is the only option then please take the thought of ; your not the first and wont be the last'. That was what the judge told me though my tears!
I only told a few close friends and my own parents, my husbands family dont know, their far too materialistic and judgemental. They dont even know our previous home was repossessed, they think we moved out to sell it! Sad i know but we have survived, we have a very old car J reg, but i love it. They asked us when we were getting a new car recently, and to my surprise my daughter announced that we thought holidays were better than newer cars!!
Wishing you all a happy debt free christmas and may 2010 be a new start for all.BSC member 137

Well said nuttyp. It is funny how different things become more important than others as before my BR i was car mad always wanting to get a new car but now i have had my old car nearly a year i dont think i would waste the money on something new as i just dont see the need. I love old stuff now where i never did. I love out local 99p store as i can now spot a bargain when i see one and i go into charity and second hand shops as now and again you find something really nice and old that would look good in the home and people actually come in and say wow to things and and ask where i got that from. Ha Ha
Im not sure i would change now either even if i got a job tomorrow and bought in loads of money i now save and would still watch the pennies.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Does anyone know the penalty for bankruptcy fraud (not declaring foreign property) as I have some info on a person who's done this.
Well done k2nga by the way, your thread is an inspiration to all the "genuine" people who have to go bankrupt and are completely honest about their assets0
