Well i thought i would update me diary as its been a while.
Well i sold the van that i was allowed to keep as i had a job at the time and i now have a car. I managed to buy a car, pay a deposit on the insurance, tax it and put a new spare tyre on for it all for what i sold the van for.
Good thing is for not alot of money i got a nice car that i hoped and it will now enable me to widen my search for a job although up to now i have had little luck on the job front.
My mum about 5years ago helped me out as i used to have personal plate and was going to sell it with a car as i could not afford take it off i said i was not bothered as at the time i only paid £250 from DVLA for it but she put it into her name and i have to admit i had forgotten about it long since but she had not and when i got the new car gave me an envelope and said i think you should use that now.
I could not believe that she had paid £25 a year to keep it on retention and now its back on the car so i feel like i am working my way back now from the bottom and boy didnt i hit the bottom.
Since the ED i have really stepped the job seeking process but so far the only letter i have had back is one saying i was over qualified for the position so i was turned down on that and for at least the last month i have not even been able to find a job i could apply for.
We have a meeting with the Job centre tomorrow as me and my fiancee have both been unemployed for 6 months and im sure they are going to be funny about it all tomorrow with us but i have been looking at even driving 100mile round trip a day but i still cant find anything and my fiancee cannot drive and really struggling as we live in a small seaside town where it is hard to get a job at the best of time and the nearest town by bus is £6.60 return so not easy although we would just love to be off benefit and living again. I have to see the JSA for 50 mins and then me fiancee for 50mins i have not got a clue what they are going to do to us for 50mins.
As our 6 months is up we will be taken off of contribution based JSA back to a couples allowance so from £121 each every 2 weeks down to £94.95 each every 2 weeks which is going to be a trouble and can i say at this point i hate people who say the social will look after you yeah it might if you have kids and the like but with us not alot although we are just keeping out heads above water at the mo so i guess i cant complain.
Myself i feel better than i have for years i have not had it easy but by far i have not had it as bad as some thats a fact and at least i feel on the up and can put 2008 right behind me.
BR does make you stronger and enjoy life again and for me it has made me fight for things and not be walked over and i can now complain all day if i have to and write letters if i have too.
Life after BR is not easy but im happy i now have a much brighter future.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Hi Kanga....glad u came out for the better and got ur ED, also wanted to say thanks for putting ur dairy up here as it has been very informative, and made me familiar with the whole process of bankruptcy..... Just one question if you don't mind me askin?? U mentioned u had debts of approx 105K and this was accumulated over a fifteen year period, did they look into ur income etc when u took this debt on? I am seriously wooried as I have a BR date for 16 April, and for one of my loans (£20,000) I did inflate my income! Worried they will view this as fraud and punish me for 'taking on debt with no reasonable method of repaying?'0

k2nga, i have just read your diary, thank you so much as i am just about to fill in my forms for BR. Well done on everything you've managed so far
You mentioned earlier in your post that they took your car off you - i thought anything under £1000 was not of interest to the OR. Is that not right?0 -
Depends on the receiver....i've known them take interest in a car worth a few hundred quidWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Hi Shiku,
Thanks for your comments. No they did not look into my income but they looked into you habits which you dont think of. The reason they never questions me or anything was because i used to pay all my bills ontime so they keep chucking money at you and then you keep spending and i was obviously robbing peter to pay paul which i had never noticed but explained the debt that i had built up.
They dont look into any applications for money that i know of unless the creditor you borrowed from smelt a rat and complained to the OR and thats unlikely to happen so dont worry about that. The other thing you have to remember and people dont think is when you are in debt up to your neck you try anything to keep you head above water. I was lucky at times as i had had some good jobs in the past and was able to send the creditors my wages slips as proof but if your creditors did not do this then its there tuff luck.
Hi Dozy-Debtor and thanks for your comments too.
When i went BR i had both a small car and a van that i needed for work. The OR knew about these vehicles. After being BR for 3 months i had not heard anything on the BR and went off to get the car MOT'ed and it failed big time and i did not have the money so i called them. The car was only worth about £200 and he said they would in that case take it and i could keep the van which was worth £2000 so i was very happy with that.
If you have no use for a car then the OR will want it but if you prove you need it and its worth little you should be ok. So no just becase its under £1000 does not mean they will not want it.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Well today is my birthday (Yay) and what a difference a year makes. This time last year i had massive debts worried about everything and panicked everytime the postman came or the phone rang.
Ok its not been a massive birthday as we are still trying to find jobs but you know i think i like it better and there are many more to come i hope but after the year i have had i am just glad to be here and at least now smiling.
Well like i say i have actively looking for a job and that has got me a bit fed up all these people still saying on the telly that there are jobs out there but hell i wish i knew where they are seeing them and so far all i get back if that i am over qualified. Its funny when i think that when i had looked for jobs that had a salary that could service my debt and now when i am happy to take a lower post than i have had in the past i cant have it as i am too qualified so i think i may start acting dumb and change me CV a bit.
I have decided to have a go at cleaning up my credit file and have sent off for me credit files so i can see what has happened since my BR. The credit expert one i am looking forward to seeing as it look well up until the BR last year so will see if any of the creditors starting doing anything to it. Anyway strange i know i am looking forward to seeing them to be honest. I never want any credit again but i would like to know that it is done and thats my only reason for doing it so like a spring clean i guess. lol
Wednesday was 3 months since my early discharge and my BR vanished from the insolvency site so thats another step to moving on.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:
