hi mirry good to meet u and welcome to our shrinking clan lol

before we can tell you whether what u are eating is ok u have to decide which plan u are doing atkins, dahlqvist, idiot proof etc etc... my first bit of advice is to read as much as u can on whichever plan u decide on

    Hi shykins ,

Many years ago I tried to do the Atkins but to be honest found it very complicated and it made my mouth feel dry and gave me bad breath , lol. :o

I have tried to do the slimming world diet, but lost no weight .

But today I have been reading the dahlqvist eating plan and think it would be less complicated for me and easier to follow , Although I have only read this one link on it ......... http://blogg.passagen.se/dahlqvistannika/?anchor=my_lowcarb_dietary_programe_in

Do you know of any other links to this subject ?

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

It was because it was simple, required no measuring, counting calories/carbs or spending any money on special foods, that is why it appealed to me.

~That was all the information I used. I later found The active low carb forum and found that quite helpful. The people there are discussing various low carb plans so you find several different approaches.

Atkins Ongoing Weight Loss appears to be very similar to Dr Dahlqvists plan. So searching the web for OWL will provide information applicable to Dr D's plan.

Why not put some cream in your coffee. Nice double cream. It mellows the coffee and adds some satisfying fat.

mmmm cream in coffee , sounds good to me :D .
Thanks for all the links Ted, I am so determined to give this a 100% go,
however when I tried the slimming world diet recently I could not loose weight (maybe be cause of my pills) so am hoping this is the answer.
I have looked online and have seen zero carb products you can buy , would this be a bad idea ?

as ted says dalqvists is not that different to atkins so take a look round and read as much asu can so u understand why and how this all works

in my opinion yes it would be a bad idea buying the bars etc as they contain all sorts of sweeteners etc whcih can stall your weight loss, best to stick to nice natural foods instead

Good morning everyone! I've not been around for a few days but I'm back now! I was a bit naughty at the weekend, we went to a cocktail party on Sunday and I ate 2 canapes with pastry, a chocolate torte and 2 profiteroles! And I'm not going to mention the cocktails! I felt really bloated and nasty afterwards so I think I was suitably punished! I was straight back on the wagon yesterday though so I hope it hasn't had too bad an effect on my belly!

Saw my BF's parents on Sunday and his mum asked how long I was going to be on my 'Fat' diet, and that I shouldn't stay on it for too long! I'm sick of her having a go about it, she's convinced that I'm going to get an eating disorder or something! I got quite short with her, telling her that I'll do it for as long as I want and I can't see how I'm hurting myself by eating meat and vegetables- it's much better than gorging on cakes and crisps (with a pointed look at BF's dad!). I brought up a lot of the points posted by Ted (thanks!) and told her to do some research before dismissing it! Why does low-carb have such a bad reputation?

Oooh, and one more thing, I made ice cream on Saturday. It tasted like frozen custard! Not good, must do better, LOL! I'm very hit and miss when it comes to cooking, some things come out brilliantly, others just go straight in the bin!

its funny when u go out and have a carbfest u then feel crap i spose it reminds us why eating this way makes us feel better!!

well done on standing up to your BF mum, i dunno why everyone goes on about this being so bad... i say same as u how can eating fresh meats with lots of salad and veg be bad for u? that tends to shut them up

i have an ice cream recipe made with cream cheese but not tried it yet it looks nice tho, i did make some with blackberries, double cream and sweetener once whcih was really nice but very hard!!

Cream cheese seems to get everywhere! I never knew it was so handy! LOL!

I was wondering if it would be possible to make some ice cream with protein shakes? I've got a chocolate flavour one and was thinking about making ice cream with it mixed up with double cream but not sure if it will work? May have to have a play around... :-)

what I had in mind was not bars of food, but things like sauces ect to add a bit of interest to foods .

On here they have alot of foods with sweetners in them , and alot of the foods are 0 carbs, they say they are suitible for a atkins diet , so I am confused ?

Does everyone on here avoid sweetners ?

I have some old atkins books up in the loft that i must dish out again .

I haven't bought any low carb products and have been following this diet for 7 months.

You should definitely avoid products with sweeteners in during your 2 week induction.

    Why not make sauces?
