I think in US recipes 't' = teaspoon and 'T' is tablespoon... but I might be wrong

Hi Everyone. Ive done a quick search and cant find the answer so would someone mind answering a question for me please? If I fry an onion, some garlic, some quorn mince, some tinned tomatoes and some spices and mushrooms to make a chilli would this be low carb? Any replies would be appreciated, thanks in advance.0

It wouldn't be too bad Gladys - the highest carb elements there are onion and tomato, so I'd keep these to a minimum... really depends what else you're going to eat that day and what your carb target isMortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Thanks for the quick reply Badger Lady. My situation is rather complicated at the moment, though its all of my own making! Ive been doing the Cambridge diet and am really struggling and want something to eat. I know from bitter experience that if I have anything carby I'll put 4 or 5lbs on in glycogen overnight and I really want to avoid this, so Im thinking of easing myself into low carb eating. I hopefully want to stick with CD for another couple of weeks first but I know if I dont eat something today I'll blow it big time!0

Does the Cambridge not have a program for resuming eating? If not, I strongly feel it should
But it does sound logical to move onto low carb when you've been in ketosis - I think some other people have been on this thread after doing no-food diets.
Are you also veggie? The top recommendations for really sticking to low-carb are eggs (boiled, scrambled, whatever you like) and tofu - Quorn seems to be OK too, but it is a really processed food and still not all of it is made with free-range eggs
Best of luck - don't forget you're more than welcome to keep coming back and updating us!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Hi Gladys - use a leek instead of an onion, lower carbs and still nice taste. HTH0

Quorn isn't great - it has wheat in it, and is higher carb than meat. But if you just have it occasionally it shouldn't cause a problem.0 -

2 tablespoons unsweetened smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon double cream
Drop of vanilla essence
Teaspoon cocoa powder
Whizz it all up in the blender until smooth! Makes one portion... gives about 15g protein and about 6g carbs - it's on my induction list but I guess you just have to be careful about what other carbs you're having that day!
Also, got Tesco own brand unsweetened soya milk so I'm hoping that's ok.
Not sure how I'm going to 'whizz' it yet as I no longer have a blender but I'm thinking of getting a cheapie hand blender from Tesco with my clubcard vouchers so hopefully I'll be able to make it soon. Will make a change from my usual blues/rasps & cream for brekkie!!0 -
Vanilla essense is the same as flavouring - and nasty (imo)
Extract is far far better0
