  • Hi :)

I'm in two minds about giving Atkins a go. I'm a vegetarian and I have been looking around the net at veggie Atkins and it seems some people say it is great and others say 'don't bother'. The reasons for 'don't bother' appears to be that you get stuck in a food rut pretty quickly and that if you fall back on legumes then there are too many carbs.

I can see that there is at least one veggie on this thread - hello Badger :) - and forgive me for asking this if it has already been asked (I don't have time to look through the rest of the thread at the moment), but how simple is it to taylor the Atkins to a veggie diet? If you are veggie and are following this diet, have you struggled with 'food ruts' and boredom? Did you do the induction phase or did you just jump into low carb eating?

And most importantly, is Marmite low carb? (please say yes...please say yes...please)

Thanks for any help, info and advice :)

    I'm veggie too.

Not got bored yet - and I've been on Phase 1 of the IPD for a year.

I don't think it's as easy for veggies - my OH is a carnivore - but it's not that difficult when you think that the bulk of the diet is veg and salad ;)

  • For the record.......porridge, although not low-carb, is allowed in phase 2 of IPD! Or perhaps you hadn't read that far.............;)

Oo, I just made vegetarian jelly for the first time! Yay me! Brilliant, too - I made it out of "red fruits" tea with a tiny drop of agave nectar and it set beautfully in my dinosaur jelly moulds :) It doesn't taste sweet or fake either, like the shop-bought stuff...
