Hiya. Spirits are carb free, but I think I read somewhere that alcohol disrupts blood sugar and therefore is best minimised, if not avoided, on a low carb diet. I think I also read that the body will burn energy from alcohol before it burns fat, in the same way that it burns energy from carbs before it burns fat. So best avoided for that reason too. But I'm not an expert. Ted probably knows better than me on that score

Yep - alcohol affects your blood sugar. So a couple of glasses of champers or a gin and fizzy water (no tonic) is okay once in a while, but not 3 times a day
And i think whisky has a higher sugar content than other spirits, so worth avoiding.0 -

I'm back on sensible eating again after lack of funds found me eating junk food donated by a relli at the weekend. I've had a really upset tummy resulting in eating like that. Amazingly I've not put on any weight post junkfest so hope I have gotten away with it. I made coleslaw for lunch with white cabbage, carrot mayo and black pepper. It was nice but a bit bland, someone has said onion makes it go off, could I add a but salad cream to make it a bit more tangy?
on DR D's plan.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Check the label on the salad cream jinny - it might contain sugar - but I'm not 100% sure.
I added a tablespoon of vinegar to my coleslaw which gave it some extra bite, plus a few sliced spring onions - which didn't appear to make it go off. Hope that helps.

Does everyone here make their own mayonnaise?
The reason I ask is because yesterday whilst making a batch I emptied one jar and opened a new one and as you do glanced at the label and the old one Asda's own brand had a higher carb level than the new one Helmans.I just mention this cos I know we are all trying to get our carb levels down as low as possible and before starting this eating plan I thought that mayonnaise was mayonnaise
I do agree about the salad cream as I do think it contains quite a significant amount of sugar but could be wrong

add some herbs or some s.free tomato sauce (u can find it in some of the supermarkets now) that will pip it up a bit and/or add worcester sauce, horseraidish etc
ok with the oopsies u have to REALLy whip the whites so u can turn the bowl upside down and it doesnt move, if the yolk bit is realy runny and u arent on atkins induction add a spoon of protein powdr or almond flour that will help thicken it all... GENTLY fold the 2 together so u dont knock the air out of the whites
ok now what else did someone say i would answer lol... need to scroll back
water,, u could add some s/free juice to it, i have been adding a mint leaf from the garden and it really makes it tasty
cup measure,, yep is a volume measure, lots of measuring jugs have them on it if u look at the side otherwise use a normal mug.. no do not press it down or liquidise it.. u will be amazed how much lettuce, cucumber etc is 2 cups worth!!!
alcohol.. yup body burns alcohol before fat so beware!!!! even if its carb free
if i forgot anything yell again at me cos i cant scroll back any futher lol

Going to the local market to get free range eggs and might get a cabbage and Sainsbury's mayo so I can make coleslaw later.
Breakfast was 2 rashers bacon with dry fried mushrooms and cherry tomatoes.
Mid morning snack was a few strawberries and greek yoghurt.
Have just made DD(14) a huge breakfast and not tempted by it at all.
I have decided that if a habit takes about 30 days to establish then I want "low carb" to become a habit so that I stay on this plan automaticaly.
I cannot keep losing weight then gaining it back on - with extra!"This site is addictive!"
