Low Carb Diet (atkins)

Elona you're making me feel hungry!:D Just out of interest - how did you make the "quiche"? Did you just pour the filling into a flan tin or similar and bake it? I'd like to give that a go. I've not tried the oopsies yet, so can't advise there, hopefully skykins will be along with the answer:)
I'll be having my usual coleslaw for lunch today, with some chicken salad. I'll be starting to look like coleslaw soon lol, but I do love it! And I too have some raspberries for after dinner tonight - which will probably be smoked mackerel and broccolli left over from last night.
You can try your pate on the scan bread crispbreads too - I know I described them as being like eating compressed hamster bedding but actually they're quite tasty - honest!:D
Have a good day everyone

I have the most AMAZING quiche recipe at home. You use almond flour and butter to make a pastry (which is delicious) and line a flan dish with it, and then add your filling and quiche 'custard'
I make it if I'm going to a BBQ so that I can have that and salads etc. Non-low carbers love it too.
I'll tap out the recipe later0 -
DD(14) was asked if she wanted to try some pastryless quiche. "Yuck"
When I brought a little bit through she decided her mouth was watering and (very suspiciously ) tried it.
The verdict was "Yum!"
The Oopsies have spread all over the tray so I cut into pieces and will try some when they cool down.

Would you like a slice of lemon or lime with ice in the water?
Better check with Shykins first though."This site is addictive!"

I just greased a small quiche tin and poured the mixture in. Then cooked at 180 for 20 mins or so till golden.
DH is amazed that I have a snack (or two) as well as three meals a day but I explained that I was trying not to feel I was "on a diet" or that I was being deprived and that everything I eat is on the plan.
I feel I really need to get comfortable with this way of eating rather than try to be too stringent or starve myself.
OMG!
Just had a small oopsie with liver pate on it and it is gorgeous!!!!"This site is addictive!"

Thanks Elona - reckon I might try both methods - pastry-less and with the almond/butter crust. (Gives me an excuse to have quiche twice). And now I must try the oopsies too!
I'm trying to adopt the same approach as you - so it feels like a lifetsyle change I can stick to long-term, rather than something that feels like a stringent diet that just makes me obsess about food all the time, and that I'll just give up on. I think that's why Dr D's plan works for me, but I know everyone is different and has different needs.

I am trying Dr D's plan too but if there are any good tips from Atkins like almond thins and oopsies then I am very grateful for it.
Thanks Shykins.

I think when I made the oopsies I did not whisk the eggs whites enough, so you might want to bear that in mind."This site is addictive!"

gillette147 if it helps any a cup is an american measurement of approx 8fl oz.If cooking you can use any cup as long as you use the same size cup for everything IYKWIM.Its flaming confusing but if you nip into tesco/asda they sell measuring cups for a couple of quid and it will take the guesswork out of it.
I've been doing some reading up on low carb diets today and the results are quite interesting. One thing that got me puzzled though was that I read on website that distilled alcohols i.e. vodka, whiskey etc were carb free.Given that they are carb free wouldnt you be able to imbibe freely of them? All the low carb diets say to avoid alcohol I wonder why?
I want to try the oopsies tomorrow when my shopping comes and I get some cream of tartar. The almond pastry sounds yum might give that a go when I come back

Raspberries and cream sounds nice I think I have some in the freezer0 -
