    Hi,

Just wanted to thank you for your replies!

I am going to experiment this week and see if I can do half CD/half Atkins. Due to see my CDC next Tuesday again, so will judge from my weight loss next week as to where I go with my diet.
Quite happy this week, lost 8lbs on CD, didnt have a great week last week so thats the weight coming off now perhaps.
Really cant fault CD other than it is not a great diet if you have any social life and it is expensive (for me anyway!)...

Will keep you all posted as to what I decide on and will continue to read all your posts... you are all doing a fab job... keep up the good work.

    :D Morning all!

    yesterday
    B - sausies
    L - HM curry
    D - chicken wings n salad
snack - cream cheese and blueberries (I know but not ad many carbs at all today and they were cheap:D )

SweetS I've been taking fibresure for 4 days now, 1 teasp per eve since Sunday. I finally think something may be happening! Didn't want to do too much at first and glad I didn't as I've had terrible wind. Felt like I was carrying a bowling ball around in my abdomen Mon - Wed. Not bad today, must be getting used to it :D Hope it settles down properly soon though. On the plus, doing it this way is less painful and unpredictable than senocot in my experience.

Hope we all have a craving free day and can look back on it with a sense of angelic achievement

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)

    Morning, folks :)

What a miserable day here again; pouring rain, grey skies. Horrible.

    Yesterday for me:

    B: none
    L: sausages and mushrooms
D: lamb chops, broccoli/cauliflower cheese, leeks, French beans

I was taking psyllium husk capsules but don't bother any more as things seem to have settled down in that department.

Interesting to see some Cambridge-dieters heading this way. I always used to think the CD was a load of rubbish but, having read a lot of the MSE thread about it (one reason why I only post on this thread now is that reading fascinating MSE threads was taking up too much of my time, so I went cold turkey), it seems to be pretty successful, working on similar lines to LC, i.e. it's meant to put you into mild ketosis. I think I'd rather eat real food, though, even if the weight loss is a little slower.

    Have a good day, everyone.

i think it takes a week of fibresure before things start to settle down and when they do just keep taking it every day and u should be fine

rgb good to have u with us i know a few people have moved from CD onto atkins and have maintained their losses

i did CD MANY MANY years ago and yes it did work but i got so sick of not eating anything i stopped and of cours i regained it all back, i worry that it doesnt really teach u how to deal with food on an everyday basis (not dissing it just expressing what i felt) and as i didnt learn anything i didnt move on whereas with atkins i have learnt SO much

am off to the gym later yes i know mad but i do feel better today may even try some brekkie and am gonna have a weigh in, if u see me naked round MSE anywhere u know i didnt lose

I'm sure you will take note of what Dr D says
A low carbohydrate diet is perfect for people with type 2 diabetes, because blood sugar is stabilised and variations limited.

Please note that if you are on medication for your diabetes the change should be made gradually, in order to avoid low blood sugar, checking blood sugar levels and reducing medication accordingly. It is recommended that you do this in consultation with your doctor or nurse.

It may therefore be a good idea to introduce COCONUT oil first so you get your body accustomed to burning fat BEFORE you start reducing carbohydrate intake so that it is better prepared for the lower levels of lack of gllucose and also if you are Intending doing Atkins it may be better to skip the induction period and go in at the ongoing weight loss stage.

I wish my OH (newly diagnosed Type-2) would seriously consider this. He totally gets the concept of low-carb, but feels it would be impractical for him. I'm working on it though, as I'd love to see him be able to cut down on the six tablets he takes every day.

And we've just heard that he is being made redundant. O happy day.

Oh HC, that's horrible news :( Have they given you any details - how long you've got, how much you'll get? Has OH got a good chance of finding a new job?
