    - presumeably that's a low carb trifle, Ted?:D;):D

I mean trifle as a small, inconsiderable, or trifling sum of money.

These trifles are however more important than you may think.

I've warned about the £18 import VAT threshold many times.
This is calculated on order value BEFORE P&P
Any discount, however trifling, reduces the order value written on the label for tax purposes.

So storing up a few IHERB credits means you can slip under the threshold and avoid not only the tax BUT also the EXTORTIONATE Post Office £8 charge for collecting the Customs Duty.

So get your referral code and put it in the referrals list.

We should not sneer at people who use state benefits to which they are legally entitled.
We should not sneer at people who use every legal tax allowance they are entitled to.
Neither should we sneer at people who have discount codes and use them to make their purchases as cheap as possible.
It's just common sense. I like readers to buy the best product at the cheapest price, using those codes and making sure your friends/relatives workmates also use them helps everyone.

    It's not being greedy.

Not handing them round and/or preventing other people knowing about them is simply mean minded. It's bad enough cutting your own nose to spite your face, but spoiling others opportunities to enjoy a discount is incomprehensible to me.

PS I'm not having a go at you Sazbo, I'm cross with some folks at another site for taking what I consider a thoroughly immoral and unreasonable stance on this issue.

If you are male or post menopausal then you should only supplement with iron if you have a medically diagnosed iron shortage.
If you are female and having periods then have a look at IRON FOOD SOURCES
    and
How much iron do you need.

One of the reasons (apart from the fact I've been feeling so much better) that I started blood donations again was to ensure my iron levels didn't get too high, there is a suggestion high iron is linked to Parkinson's.

  • Diet help from supplements Have just been reading this. I thought it was interesting but I'm not sure about the comments on 5HTP. I'll look into it and edit this post later today.

That didn't take long Consumerlabs report
Use of 5-HTP appeared to lead to a significantly enhanced sense of satiety after eating. Over the course of 5 weeks, women taking 5-HTP effortlessly lost more than 3 lbs.

It wouldn't be a good idea to take this if you are already taking an anti depressant.

these look the best value. Consumerlabs say A typical dosage of 5-HTP is 100 to 300 mg 3 times daily. Once 5-HTP starts to work, it may be possible to reduce the dosage significantly and still maintain good results.

    Zipvit are 5 HTP 100mg 60 £8.49 Virtually £17 for 120
Iherb including delivery £12.80 for 120

    Interesting article, Ted.

But is it just me, or did you too have a sneaky giggle at:

And I finally realized if I took a daily supplement of folic acid, I wouldn't get those desperate chocolate cravings. My body physically lets me know it needs folic acid by issuing a craving for the creamy treat that contains it.

Funny how her body demanded chocolate rather than, say, brussels sprouts or broccoli when it was 'letting her know' it needed folic acid. :D
  • I don't think I can take too many more supplements, I sound like a rattle snake walking up the stairs to work in the morning as it is!

    Food so far today:

    B: 3xBacon, sausage 2x eggs
L: 3 ham and cheese roll up things (basically ham with cheese in the middle), a chipolata and a yoghurt*
D: I have got a rather nice sirloin steak waiting, and I'll have broc and cauli with cheese on top again. Got some blueberries for later, with cream of course.

*Yoghurts - I have been purchasing muller lights, not for any other reason than I like them, I did not pay any attention to the Carb levels until lunchtime. A strawberry one is around 11g per 100g!!! Can anyone point me in the direction of another nice yoghurt, with fat, and low in carbs?? Many thanks.
I can't read, and I can't write, but that don't really matter, 'cos I come from the Isle of Wight and I can drive me tractor.

Hiya. When I was including yoghurt, the lowest one I found was Fage's Total Greek yoghurt. From memory, about 10% fat and 3% carbs. But it is a plain yoghurt though - no fruit in it:)

Thanks for the tip on the yogurt, im aiming for low carb generally more than the strict atkins week by week with the reintroduction of carbs over the week.

re potnoodle total greek full fat yogurt is deliciously rich (plain) and has 3.2g of carbs per 100g maybe worth a try if u add ur own stuff i love it mixed with spring onion and cucumber with a HM curry instead of rice.

has anyone tried the sero or atkins bars- was thinking of getting some for the desperate times lol
keep calm and carry on :rotfl:
