Hello lovelies :hello:
Just a quickie sazzy coz v busy at work today:)
Hi and welcome yello tuesday :hello:
Aliasojo - I'm not usually home from work until 7pm at the earliest and dinner is usually between 8 and 8.30, so I tend not to get hungry after that. My problem is getting hungry late afternoon, so I try not to have my lunch before 2pm... altho I still get hungry even then lol:o
Badger Lady - good luck for today! :T
Avstar - am deffo tempted by that M&S ricer:D
Sue - nice to see you back
pilly - thanks, will check out those paleo links
Suspect were I was going wrong up till xmas was not eating enough fat - and reading Ted's latest Dr D's transcript has reminded me of that. So I am trying to make a conscious effort now to redress that.
Today's meals:
b: flax bread and piece of gammon
l: salad with cold meat and cheese
d: chili (which I think I've made a bit too hot!:o:D) on a bed of shredded cabbage and leeks
Have a lovely day everyone

Good morning all, day 9 for me.
B - 2 sausages & pork medallion (I was hungry!)
L - salad - maybe tuna?
D - stewing steak with broc/cauli & leeks fried in butter with black pepper (yum!)
Pud - jelly fool
Snacks/supper - handful salted peanuts & maybe slice Leerdammer cheese
Totally agree with the low-fat dilemma - to begin with I was still buying the low-fat versions of cheese/cottage cheese etc but when I read here that the normal fat things tend to have less carbs I thought, what the heck, & have been buying the normal stuff for the last few days.
When I think about it, I've been buying low-fat, diet stuff for years so WHY AM I OVERWEIGHT?! In the past I've tried to be 'good' or starved myself but it never worked for me. Thank goodness for the low-carb way of eating - I'm eating plenty of food, getting my fruit & veg quota & I'm losing weight!!

Hi all
Sweetserendipity - I know what you mean about automatically reaching for the low-fat versions - took me a couple of shopping trips to go for normal versions:rotfl:
Its the whole brain washing thing we've had for years saying fat is bad. I remember my friend doing weightwatchers or some such plan and having a meringue nest every day..... ....even then the thought of pure sugar like that set my teeth on edge eeek!
Yellow Tuesday - Hi and welcome.
I think I've decided I'm not keen on almond flour - its very 'dry' and I've made a couple of things with it but not really keen on them. The 'fake cake' thing just isn't doing it for me - or maybe my taste buds are changing. I'd rather have the occasional piece of dark choc or a piece of cheese.
I'm loving chicken wings sprinkled with chicken seasoning and roasted in the oven for a good 45 mins until crispy, they've become a bit of snack for me.
Can't wait until strawberries are in season and I can actually afford to buy some, with whipped cream- yum!
B - fried egg & ham, cherry toms
L - HM ratatouille with sausages
D - Chicken legs with veggies or salad
Snacks - cheese, spicy chicken wings, celery with pate0 -
Dunno if anyone knows this already (God you can tell I'm off work this week!), but certain foods, containing goitrogens, suppress the thyroid, leading to hypothyroidism and possibly the development of a goitre (enlarged thyroid gland that is most unsightly!)
There's quite a list but it includes cruciferous veg e.g cauli, cabbage and also strawberries! From the more recent stuff I've read, it's not just a problem for those with an existing thyroid problem but for those with normal functioning.
These foods block the absorbtion of iodine by the thyroid gland (which it requires to function normally and regulate metabolism) and it may consequently slow down your metabolism, leading to weight-gain and perhaps a goitre (never personally seen anyone with one, mind).
You would, however, have to eat a lot of the foods listed and cooking reduces goitrogens by approx 1/3. It's just cos I'm becoming firm friends with cauli, at the moment, and I have cabbage wraps in the oven as I type! And I don't even like cabbage!!! (it's good for me though, yadda yadda............)
Therefore, tomorrow I'm off to get some kelp supplements (rich in iodine) in order to offset potential damage to thyroid. Flippin heck, and here's me thinking veg is meant to be good for you, may as well go back to eating lethal carbs! Kiddin
On a totally different note (almost) Supersize vs Superskinny is back tonight, yey! Will be at gym though so have to catch it on-line. He'll just tell them a load of old cobblers anyway, low fat, wholegrain etc etc, the FOOL!! Ha.
p.s, sorry no link, I just googled goitrogens and there's shed-loadsa info!x0 -

Oh, well I finally got my "news" - they want me back for a third, count them, third interview!!!
I'm still the only candidate in the running, it's been 2.5 months since my first interview, so the Director needs to "refresh his memory". Appointment to be booked, because the MD will also be present this time.
Has anyone ever been so abused by a recruitment process??? :mad:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Hi Badgerlady, wow, I'd be in need of major stress relief by now!!
I think if you don't get it after they've put you through 3 interviews then they've got poop for brains. What job is it you're going for?0
