mercy well done on the 2lbs and fingers crossed sweet for your weigh in

sorry to disagree about broiling being grilling its definitely different i had a long conversation with an american lady about it, tho i think grilling is as close as we will get... mind u i never grill always either fry or do high in oven lol

cup measures are everywhere now but as long as u use the same size cup u will be fine they are pretty standard as a rule and as i said its all about the volume of what u aare using rather than the weight (dont understand mls myself so that wouldnt help me lol)

    Hiya

    Just found this on wiki

Broiling (North American English) or grilling (British and Australian English) is a process of cooking food with high heat with the heat applied directly to the food, most commonly from above. Heat transfer to the food is primarily via thermal radiation. As it is a way of cooking without added oil, it is popular in low-fat diets.

In electric ovens, broiling/grilling may be accomplished by placing the food near the upper heating element, with the lower heating element off and the oven door partially open. Broiling in an electric oven may create much smoke and cause splattering in the oven.[1] Gas ovens often have a separate compartment for broiling, as a drawer below the flame.

Not sure this helps with the confusion though :D

    BROILING

Broiling is a method of cooking food by placing it upon a very hot surface, usually a gridiron. The term is often replaced by the term grilling, in which the food is strictly cooked with the source of heat above it.

    GRILLING

Grilling is a method of cooking in which the food is placed beneath a source of heat, called a grill. The term is often erroneously applied to broiling in which the heat is applied below the food.

Seems to make a bit more sense. Maybe grilling is as close as we can easily get to broiling without special equipment?

Right, must do some work

Well done Sweet and Mercy! (Lol...you two together sound like a pop group :rotfl: ).

I lost 4 lbs on this morning's weigh in. :D Needless to say I'm chuffed but if it had been just one more pound, that would have been my first stone. Oh well, will hit it next week. I hope, lol.

Youngest is still on the couch so my weekend has been hard. I think you tend to want to eat more just because you're bored or out of your routine. Hopefully she will be back at school tomorrow though.

Btw, I've been meaning to ask...do you lot not have supper? I notice most of the food lists only have Breakfast/Lunch/dinner. I wouldn't sleep if I didn't eat something later on.

I tend to have a small handful of salted peanuts for supper - I know it's a bit naughty but I'm convinced they help me in the toilet department too!! Sorry if that's too much info!! I sometimes have a couple of cubes of cheese too.:D
  • Thanks guys for the info on broiling, weights and measures. ;) Yes, I will def be havin supper as will need something when I get back from gym (Have every intention of going cos it's day 1 of the diet that is not a diet plus the flipping membership's gone up to £50 per mnth  )
Aim to have main meal before gym cos it's too much faffing about afterwards.
It's handy that I'm off work this week as I can spend more time organising myself re. food shopping ( wow, it looked like a harvest festival when I was unpacking it all!) and cooking from scratch.

Big congrats on your weight losses, mind. Most impressive

Well done on your losses, everyone! :T:T:T I'm down only one pound this week, but as long as it keeps going in the right direction, I don't mind how slow it is!

Well done everyone who had a good weigh-in:T

I have supper if I eat my evening meal early - usually piece of cheese or a some nuts. If I eat late then I don't feel the need.

I bought the potatoe ricer from M&S (and 2 caulis on offer 2 for £1.50). it's marvellous!
Made the cauli pizza as soon as I got home, the ricer gets rid of most of the water but I also squeezed it out in a muslin square and that got quite a bit out too. Pizza was gorgeous, will def make this again. Didn't tell anyone what was in it and DD and her mate scoffed the lot off. Were v surprised when I said what was in it (DD's attempt at the plan has god a bit AWOL over the weekend....:rotfl: ).

Been wobbling a bit today tho - someone's brought a big bag of sweets from holiday in and they are say looking at me, also found people keep pushing naughty treats on me at work, I said no to a choccy biscuit last week and you'd think I'd committed treason:eek: . Then everyone joined in "I weigh much more that you..." Blimey, felt like snapping "Well do somat about it then" but I know that just gets people's backs up. I just said I was detoxing for new year and that seemed to be OK then:rotfl:
