The Fructose Index is the New Glycemic Index
I've already posted links to this blog and to the concerns over the way fructose induces leptin resistance which is very much related to insulin resistance.
Anyway this blog post may make the things clearer.
I'll quote one paragraph for those who don't follow my links.
Drs. Johnson and Segal recommend limiting fructose to 15-40 grams per day, which is the equivalent of about two apples or one soda (choose the apples!). They also recommend temporarily eliminating fructose for two weeks, to allow the body to recover from the negative long-term metabolic adaptation that can persist even when intake is low. I think this makes good sense.
I think this is a good idea , particularly for those starting Dr Dahlqvist's plan anyone doing Atkins properly will do this anyway as part of the induction where Carbs are very tightly controlled. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Interesting link, ted. Funny thing is, I've never really been a fruit eater and dentists always remark that I must have a very low sugar diet on account of the minimal erosion of my teeth... doesn't stop me having gum probs tho lol. But the low carb thing kinda gave me an official excuse for minimising my fruit intake:D Would be good if there was an fructose index of foods, akin to the GI index, so you could see at a glance what contains what.

Ar'ernoon everyone :hello:
Hope you're all enjoying your saturday:) Poor gilly's only just back home, after a very early start for his course this morning. He was frozen to the bone, really cold out today. I've just been pottering around the house doing some chores. Had a late lunch of some salad and ham. Going to grate some cauli later for 'rice' to go with our curry, then just gonna relax and watch Strictly.
Much love to all

Oh, I've managed to trump my previous stressful week! Just spun my car right across the M4 and took out the central barrier
So my sister's taken me back to her place and fed me pitta bread, humous and carrot. I'll have a lager and a fruit pie shortly - is that allowed?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

OMG Badger Lady you poor thing! I hope you're ok. I think you can eat what you like in the circumstances!
I've had a terrible weekend on the carb front but a fantastic weekend on the social front! It's my birthday so i've had several meals out and as the weather has been so dreadful it felt a bit christmassy and i succumbed to mince pies and choccie biccies!!!AAAGGGGHHHHHHH
Anyway being exceptionally good now and have written out a meal planner for the next two weeks..feeling smug!
let you know tomorrow if i have undone all my good work of recent weeks.:rotfl:Credit Card debt £10247.17 1/1/20200 -
Welcome back, Shykins. Glad you had a lovely time. And I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting back on track.
Pink, was it your 40th birthday? (Just a guess, from your user ID!) Happy birthday, anyway. Sounds as though you had a fab weekend!
Badger_Lady, how dreadful. You've had some horrible luck lately. You did just the right thing to have some comfort food. It must have been a truly terrifying experience. When my DD wrote off my car last February (she was a new learner, my OH was in the passenger seat, other party's insurer accepted full liability) we had champagne that night. Sounds strange, perhaps, but it was to celebrate them being alive and unhurt. Sounds as though you need to be very kind to yourself right now. And you're definitely due for a big dose of luck, so I'd buy a EuroMillions ticket, if I were you.
I had strawberries and cream last night. It was heavenly. My first fruit for ten weeks. (I wouldn't normally buy strawberries at this time of year, but they were on their use-by in Sainsbury's - 40p - and were all ripe and red... and I'm only human.)
And I've eaten a lot more vegetables this week. I wonder if that will affect my weigh-in tomorrow. I don't expect to lose more than a pound this week (if that) as I've dropped 6 pounds in the last fortnight. I don't seem to lose weight linearly (is that a word?); it goes in fits and starts, for some reason.
Have a good week, folks, despite the November gloom.0
