Hope things work out OK for you.

I fear she won't be the first.
My firm have cancelled the xmas party, my boss has just resigned (my only ally there) and I know that my boss is doing some culling of staff for xmas!!
God bless us every one!!

Awww... it's all good fun, isn't it? Actually I may well turn this into a positive - just applied for a job in Barcelona
I'm feeling quite light-hearted about it - at least the mortgage is dirt cheap now (tracker rate). I've got 10 days to apply for redeployment (but 14 of us going for 4 jobs there), and have started cracking out applications all over the place. I'm pretty flexible in terms of location so I'm better off than all my colleagues who have families to look after

Badger Lady, all that does sound pretty promising. Good luck and keep us posted!
How very miserable everything is at the moment, though.Had to rush one of my cats to the vet last night - we thought she had a broken tail. It's not quite that bad but she'll probably have to have it amputated. Worst-case scenario was that she'd be put down. My DDs were beside themselves at the thought. I'm relieved the cat is OK, but I'm not looking forward to the vet's bill. I've got so many animals that I don't do pet insurance - I self-insure instead. I think this is going to clean the pot out till I can build it up again.
I'm all alone this evening so I'm going to be cheering myself up with garlic mushrooms, then lamb chops (half price at Sainsbury's ) and blue cheesy leeks in front of the TV. And a few lovely glasses of... water :mad:0 -
Ah well Badger Lady at least you won't have to worry about going to work with a New Year hangover....lol
I don't particularly believe in fate but i do belive that we can all choose to turn these things into a positive in the long run, so good luck with that Barcelona job! We tried to sell out house in the spring and got so fed up of the lack of interest we took it off the market and let our dream home slip from our grasp but now i realise we would have ended up with a bigger mortage and bigger council tax bills and no extra money to pay for them. Glad we stayed put in the end!Credit Card debt £10247.17 1/1/20200 -
A weight loss diet with moderate carbohydrate, moderate protein results in more favorable changes in body composition, dyslipidemia, and post-prandial INS response compared to a high carbohydrate, low protein diet suggesting an additional benefit beyond weight management to include augmented risk reduction for metabolic disease.
Do note this diet would not be called a low carb diet as it allowed up to 170g carbs daily in a diet totally 500calories less than needed for basic metabolism. Perhaps if they had reduced the carb intake to below 100g the weight loss would have been significantly greater in the lower carb group.
It's interesting to see the lower carb group, even so, lost more fat than did the higher carb group. Remember, it's weight from fat loss and not weight from lost muscle that we need to focus our efforts on, that's why lowering insulin, the fat storage hormone, allows the fat to escape from fat cells and be burnt as fuel. It was the lower insulin levels after meals in this trial that allowed that release of fat. Less insulin doesn't only mean less fat but also a lower risk of diabetes, but other benefits were measured in the levels of triglycerides, HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol and I shouldn't have to remind you of the impact this will have on heart disease. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Vitamin D Status and its Relationship to Body Fat, Final Height and Peak Bone Mass in Young Women This is an interesting paper (well to vit d nerds like me) showing how young women with low vitamin D status were generally both shorter and fatter than those with adequate D3 status.
It's more evidence supporting the idea that inadequate vitamin d status is associated with fat accumulation. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

So how much vitamin D do you take a day, Ted? I take a daily multivitamin with 5mcg (100% of the EC RDA) of vitamin D3 in it. Presumably you take much more than that?0

I use these and take 10 each week, because it's fat soluble you need to take them with food and it doesn't matter (except when you are breastfeeding) if you take them daily or weekly.
I've mentioned in relation to exercise that I have to be careful about doing too much as I had polio as a child and now my polio damaged muscles/nerves are vulnerable to stress and I was deteriorating at a distressing rate. But since the Vit d things have changed and not I discovered today for the reasons I thought. I thought it was all to do with Vit d being anti inflammatory but Todays latest Vitamin D news is that it helps damaged nerves to repair and regenerate. funnily enough I'm now taking the same 100 IU/kg/day used in the trial.
It certainly has improved my mobility. I used to have to use a wheelchair when outside and I had to sit to cook a meal or do the washing up. Thank goodness those days have gone. But to get back on topic there is other research showing how low vitamin D status predicts and precedes metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance so if you want to get back on track faster improving your D3 levels with EFFECTIVE amounts of D3 will certainly help.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
