OMG. I just managed to figure out a low carb chocolate sponge pudding  Just fed it to OH and he didn't even know it was low carb!
Takes about 10 mins to make (including cooking). not worked out carbs yet, cos I'm still devouring it, but here's the recipe:
4 tbsp ground almonds
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 - 1.5 tbsp splenda
2 tbsp pure cocoa powder
mix dry ingredients together in a 1 pint microwavable bowl or jug
add 1 egg and beat together
add 1 tbsp double cream and 2 tbsp water and a splash of vanilla extract and mix
add 2 tbsp oil (i use groundnut but repeseed would work too. don't use olive oil!) and mix until combined
bung in microwave and nuke on full power for 3 minutes.
Leave to stand for a minute or so before eating with cold thick cream.
It's quite rich. 1 mixture serves 2 or 1, depending on your need for chocolate (I'm premenstual and my body has been screaming for dark chocolate all day, so this is proving a good alternative).

Dry Extract Boldo (5:1 concentrate) 27mg (Equivalent to 135mg Boldo, containing 0.5% alkaloids) leaves and bark of boldo (Peumus boldus Molina), and has been shown to possess antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory effects. From this point of view, the possible anti-diabetic effect of boldine and its mechanism were evaluated.
Butternut Bark 10mg
Dandelion Root 30mg
Dry Extract Fucus (5:1 concentrate) 45mg (Equivalent to 225mg Fucus)
As the evidence supporting the use of the main ingredient is so slight I'd not buy any more.
There is a lot more evidence to support the use of chitosan but even so Chitosan for overweight or obesity. concludes chitosan is more effective than placebo in the short-term treatment of overweight and obesity..........high quality trials indicate that the effect of chitosan on body weight is minimal and unlikely to be of clinical significance. so while it may be worth giving them a trial to see how they work for you don't spend a lot of money on them]I've got some promo work next weekend, which always seems to help (just 9 hours standing around smiling at strangers)
Do also consider intermittent fasting

In Turkey and Morocco they serve green tea poured over fresh, crushed mint leaves (and several teaspoons of sugar:eek::o > insert EEK! smiley here<
) and it is rather nice. More than one glass, though, and my tongue goes numb!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around for ages, I was still off work last week and in holiday mode with limited access to MSE! Needless to say, holiday head meant that I started every day with good intentions that went out of the window by dinner time! LOL! I'm back at work now and back on the wagon for definite, I'm just feeling a bit worried that I'm going to go through the same withdrawal that I did last time because that was not fun! I deserve it though for being so naughty! LOL! Oh, and I know that Green Tea is good for you, but i can't bring myself to drink it! Eugh!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Thanks for these... my lodger does a type of intermittent fasting - he does a kick-start "detox" with a full week on nothing but brown rice (by the end you get fed up of brown rice and eat nothing), then he goes back to normal eating but fasts from Saturday morning to Sunday teatime.
I did join him for the "detox" a couple of months ago, although it only lasted 4 days for me. It helped to boost my weighloss a little (not dramatically, but noticeably) and I did feel better afterwards. I'm sure weightloss afterwards was easier than it had been before. However, I did get very grumpy during the fast (maybe that's just the company I was keeping!) and I worried that doing it for too long would upset the metabolism.
The Intermittent Fasting programmes suggested in your links sound much more sensible - might have to give it a go for a week and report results!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0
