We really shouldn't be thinking of low carbing just for weight loss.
Low carbing is the diet our bodies evolved to suit best.
Only 333 generations have eaten cereals
200 generations have eaten dairy produce
7 generations only have eaten refined sugars, refined cereals, oils and canned foods
4 generation only have eaten junk food from the food processing industry.
there have been about 6,666 generations of modern humans and around 150,000 generations of the earlier humanoid forms. Our muscles and our brains function better without these relatively modern foods and although the odd excursion back into modern processed foods isn't likely to be of much consequence if you regard low carb as the normal healthy food that you are going to stick with ad infinitum, then you will be on the right track.
Sorry Ted I was in a bit of a rush yesterday posting so dont think I made myself understood very well:o I did read the article you posted the link to about exercise not helping weight loss. But what I actually meant was most women who take fitness classes are usually thin women.Maybe this is just where I live and they have some factory pumping out these thin women:rotfl:
Daisy was merely curious with the comments but reading back my post it seemed a little offhand so if I offended please accept my apologies
I know 2lb is a good weight loss for the week but I'm one of those impatient women that just want to lose it and lose it now!
But on the upside I have gone from a size 20 jeans to being back into my size 16 ones:eek: They might be a bit snug but in ems in em:D Hubby reckons I look like an egg in an egg cup in any of the bigger jeans:rotfl:

Ted
You have scared me now!!!!!;)
Tinkerbell
I just cannot eat celery but might try sticks of cucumber if I want something to dip.
I am trying really hard to get rid of the "diet" mentality where one slip means I have "failed" so then I stuff myself silly!
So far I have managed to keep a limit on what crackers etc I eat but want to get back on plan.
I think when I get some peace and quiet I will re-read Atkins and the Idiot proof diet to get my head back in gear!"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
I find that I am not hungry when I want a cracker but "My teeth are bored!";)
lol elona, I know exactly what you mean by that :rotfl: I know I refer to the GG bran crispbreads (that shykins mentioned) as compressed hamster bedding but I do actually like them and they help with my need for something cracker-like. Well worth the trip to Holland & Barrett, imo. Mr Badger reckons we should have them for our evening meal rather than breakfast coz they're a bit time-consuming to eat :rotfl:
Hi to Sue and HC :hello: Welcome back birdie and hi to everyone else
Lesley - lol re my cooking! Poor gilly being subjected to my low carb experiments - i'd have thought he'd be eating less rather than more!:o:D But I must point out that he cooks too - in fact he made my lunch for me today and I'm feeling so hungry already it's all I can do not to eat it now.
Tonight we're having aberdeen angus beef burgers on a grilled flat mushroom with melted cheese.... mmmm I can't wait!
shkyins - re thread, I know in the Arms they are asked to start a new thread once they go over 1,000 posts - but on the health board, threads seem to go way over that?I guess one of the BGs will start a new one when they feel they need to?
Having serious network problems at work this morning, so I can see I'm gonna get a lot of work done today....
Have a good day everyone
Much love,

no not in any way offended - so my apologies if i came across defensive at all - didnt intend to
i know what you mean about sizes of women at gyms and classes - though where i work we have all shapes ages sizes and abilities in the gym - my favourite ppl to work with are middle aged women who have never been in a gym in the lives - helping them feel comfortable and motivated and subsequently hleathier
not all of our aerobic instructors are skinny minnies either - 2 are a healthy and extremely fit size 16
imo size is but a number really - its how you feel and how that number makes you feel that is important:j MFi3 wannabee :j

I might have to put wheels on my lunchbox and push it to work.Girls are gonna love the way I toss my hair. Boys are gonna hate the way I seem.
I would rather drown with you than watch the surf with someone else0 -

Tsk! I think mirry was wanting some slightly more practical suggestions!
mirry - you could try wrapping the cod in bacon and baking it? Or bake in a foil parcel with soy, ginger and spring onion? Or cook simply in a cream and mushroom sauce?
hope that helps,

i make low carb fish pie - cheese sauce by melting a tub of creme fraiche with a dollop of cream cheese
