vix When I weight gain, I don't paticularly feel really fat, just heavy, de-energised from eating all the wrong foods and knowing I have gained makes me immediately go to loose it because of the fear of being as large as I used to be if it is not seen off straight away:rolleyes:

A question for you all, you all know I am a binger or ex binger, still a binger I reckon because once I start there is no stopping me,I have learnt to curb it a million times better than I ever used to but it is just sometimes when nothing and no one will or could or can stop me:rolleyes: OH said once that he would 'keep an eye on me and tell me when to stop' if he so much as thinks about it it makes me mad and eat more or go into hiding and wait for him to leave the house, bless him:rolleyes: can't abide being told the truth when I know I am in the wrong and should be listening to him:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: anyway I have tried thinking of the calories, counting the calories in and working around the extra calories, exercising more to counter act it,being more active, leaving the house and doing something else like painting nails, be on the phone, bath etc etc, that it was that which got me into the weight last time, that I am letting myself down, that I do not want to be as large as I used to be that I have put a lot of time and effort into this and to see it all go to waste would be a travesty, that so and so is bad for me, that I am full, don't need it,that I can happily have just a couple and suffer no weight gain/deprivation, a little of what you fancy does you good and all that, that it only will bring misery of the weight gain variety and I will have to work even harder to shift what if I only took a step back could have avoided, it just sometimes does not stop me from freeing the fridge of all its contents:rotfl: :rotfl: so what stops you? What makes you think I will just have one or I will have this and no more?
My downfall is thick white bread, bacon, belly pork, roasties , I am so so good the best part of the time(I substitute white bread for WW thick wholemeal bread, bacon for turkey rashers, roasties for WW ones not covered in fat, belly pork rarely eat it and never buy it in) but when I see white bread I cannot seem to stop at a couple of slices like a normal person would, enjoy them and move on, I get protective over the loaf of bread and while I am buttering one I am eating the other and any member of the family wanting a piece has to put it in writing why they feel they should have a slice of MY BREAD FROM MY LOAF:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: the same with bacon, no one is worthy of it, just me:D
Obviously I do not buy it in, that would be madness, avoidance has always worked for me, so there is never any in the house unless I have made a point of buying it for birthdays, xmas etc but when it comes in it has no hope of stoping for long:rotfl: :rotfl:

    efrieze well done you xxx

Snacks: Fruit (1 piece, apple, orange, pear)
    Dinner: normal meal

    this week (starting today)

    Morning: Apple
    Lunch: Muesli
    Snack: Orange
Dinner: normal Meal, but probably a much less portion.

i know its less but i want to do this..what you think
doesn't seem much, porridge keeps you full for breakfast with skimmed milk and some fruit like bananas, raspberries, strawberries cut up and put into the porridge, lunch you need protein like tuna, prawns, salmon, slices of chicken, eggs combine that within a salad or have a healthy baxters soup like tomato and lentil or any variety really and snack on fruit, sugar free jelly, drink loads of water with a slice of lemon in, there are many ready meals available or recipes you can make from scratch that have much fewer cals in them than the usual variety, the channel 4 show eat yourself slim book has excellent recipes fill up with loads of veg...

Hello Acid - Sorry to disappoint but unless you are going for a very short term crash diet I really don't think this is going to do you any good from either a nutritional or a weight loss point of view.

If your body is not getting the nutrition/calories it needs it will do two things. Firstly it will get it from your own body - not just from your fat but from muscles and organs also - including your heart:eek:.
Secondly your body will go in "starvation" mode and will require less and less calories to survive. When you eventually start to eat an even half ways normal diet you will put on weight and quickly too!

Include some fruit with your breakfast, put some carbs or proteins with your lunch, and have a well balanced dinner. If you are hungry between meals drink some water, if 15 minutes after that you are still hungry eat some fruit or veggie sticks like celery or carrots.

Good luck with your diet - you will find loads of support on here - hope you didn't mind the schoolmarm lecture:rotfl:.

    Love

  • Hi Acid I totally agree with Victory and RL, far too little, sounds like the sort of thing Mr A does, leaves him tired, irritable, and grumpy, gives you whiffy breath too, great for relationships eh:eek:. Like all very low calorie diets, you'll lose 'weight' but not much of it will be fat!

Hi Victory, fellow binger here :o. I've struggled with it too over the years and am now MUCH better than I used to be...luckily I've been very busy for years, doing long hours in a fairly physically active job where I couldn't eat between meals, so haven't ballooned more than I have.

I control it (sort of) by only preparing one of something at a time, washing & drying up, (food warm in oven) and having a food+drink, followed by 'something active' rule. After that, even if I don't manage the 'active' bit, I often can't be bothered to start the cook/wash-up process again. I think the French deffo have something with their almost ceremonious meals where they eat slowly/talk, etc.

Doesn't always work (or I wouldn't be 4+ stone over a BMI of 25, lol!) does help a fair bit though. With choc & crisps etc. I either don't have em in the house, or have Mr A hide them, works as long as he's out--but as I binge evenings mostly and he works 9-5, best not to buy em:o.

    Hello!

Welcome FG (agree about changing the name don't be negative be positive how about SlimJim?).

Leyla I wish there was a RC club near me. I'd love to salsa! Have been to a club a few times and had some lessons but don't have the excuse to go regularly.

Hi Dragon can't remember where I saw it (on here?) but if you get very low fat quark and put a teaspoon of stilton in it overnight you get a tub of low fat stilton tasting quark! Haven't tried it yet myself so not sure if it works.

Hi Missy how's the recovery going? Great that you have managed not to put on whilst getting better - don't put yourself under too much pressure though!

Vix Chinese and Maccy D's Mmmmm! Naughty and nice!!!!!! Mind you I haven't had a McD's for ages.
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

Ooh Tagz - thanks for that! I was wondering about getting some very low fat philly (or Sainsbugs version thereof!) and mixing it with Danish Blue (or even some cottage cheese and Danish Blue!) so I get the flavour without the calories!!

Sorry - posted before I read the last page of posts! Doh!

Acid agree that that seems like too little food/energy. You can eat more without being unhealthy (wish I could practise more than I preach!).

Victory you've started BA - Bingers Anonymous. My name is Tagz and I'm a binger. I'm great until I've got back from the school run and then I can feel myself being drawn towards the cupboards. Mainly sweet stuff so I try to steer myself towards the fruit but those Jaffa cakes have the tendancy of throwing themselves at me!

Delly mega whoppa hugs and this is for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MONTPHr7V1w

Acid - please eat more! One reason I find it hard to lose weight is because I ended up eating under 500 calories per day (courtesy of Doctors telling me to cut down and cut down!), now if I eat under 1000 calories - I put weight on, if you start to stave yourself you could be in the same boat very, VERY quickly

Acid, I'm afraid your plan gets a massive thumbs down from me too. Please tell us a little more about what you're hoping to achieve and we can help you with a sensible plan to make any loss sustainable.
Okay, here's my personal take on binging. Several reasons for binging are because you feel deprived and 'rebel', are genuinely hungry and then overeat or as an emotional response. Everything in moderation will help the first, snacking on protein for the second. The third is the most difficult to overcome, as it is usually so engrained. The key is to find an alternative way of 'being' with your feelings rather than 'eating' them. Vic, if I'm being honest I think you feel deprived and then go all out to have your fill. What about allowing yourself a white bacon butty once a week - that way you can have something you love without jeopardising your weight loss. Tagz, 4pm was always my worst time - try some protein like cheese with some chutney for a sweet kick.

Thanks Missy, yes I've been going to the gym, not as often as I'd like simply because we've been away quite a lot but I'm still swimming and have just started some classes. One is Body Balance which I used to do years ago but is quite different now ( tai chi, yoga and pilates based) and tomorrow I'm trying out a new yoga class. I'm loving being a little more active but it is hard work at the mo, I'm hoping in time it'll take less out of me. I even tried out Wii fit while we were away, did some yoga poses which was fun!

  • got to agree acid, that is not enough for you to sensibly lose weight on.I wouldn't substitute a single piece of fuit for a meal - a snack maybe, but not a meal.

Came home from work today because I was feeling rubbish - dizzy and out of it. 4 hours sleep later and I still feel the same. bleagh. Off to sort out the swap, so get those pm boxes emptied NOW!
