Interesting - being an AUgust girl I was always the youngest in the year but as far as I know it never affected me, but we are all August birthdays in my family apart from Dad, so maybe that was a factor?
George, my nephew aged 11, is the oldest boy in his year and seems to be quite proud of that.... he was telling me that he helped a young 'guy' who had fallen in the playground at school, and seemed to feel a slight responsibility to look after the younger ones. Amazing really as he is registered partially sighted!
Tagz - bummer about the scales! Ours are pretty accurate but if you lean slightly you can change it a bit but not always for the better lol!NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........0 -
Hi folks, thanks for the good wishes. I borrowed a laptop from a friend so I could get some online contact.
Yesterday wasn't a good day, I could barely get out of bed I was so emotionally and physically exhausted but I had to get up to sort out DS. I had asked my ex not to come over and arranged for his mum to pick up DS but he dropped him off in the evening and told me that he would ring today to speak to DS and I'm just exhausted by the entire thing.
He moved out on Wednesday, but was here on thursday, friday and yesterday. I'd say he'd be here today but for the fact that he's working. Can anyone please explain how I'm supposed to get over the breakup of the marriage and move on when the contact so far has been daily and all on his terms?
Anyway, another sneaky peak at my WI for tomorrow and it's looking very promising but not very healthy. So far I'm looking at a 7lb loss and understand that at this stage it's not a good thing. I can assure you all that I am eating and it is mostly wholesome healthy food. I'm hardly snacking at all and my portions are quite small as I'm trying to cook only what ds and I would eat.
I do understand that it's more than likely I'm still in shock and my body is burning up fat in the fight/flight mode it's been in for the past week, I'm not worried about the weightloss yet but if it continues like this something might have to be done.
It's funny you're all talking of the cut off age for school. Over here it's 30th June / 1st July (I know this from applying for nursery for DS!) How strange!
DS is having a meltdown and wants me to play. Be back later.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

Delly - this does sound like (unsuprisingly) your body is in shock. I'm not suprised you are exhausted. As for the weight loss. The important thing is you are eating not skipping meals and it is healthy stuff. I guess not snacking, eating carp and portion control are the secrets of weight loss! However, you are right to keep as eye on yourself: you need to look after yourself to beable to get through this. As long as you know you are eating good food, then hopefully you'll be ok.
I notice that David Tenant's performance as Hamlet was sold out within hrs: quite how many tickets did you buy:rotfl: .
Gerty - that sound very positive if you had scrabble recently...
Well done on the run yesterday tagz:T . Bad luck with the weigh in!!I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Try this calculator to get an idea about the scrabble...
http://www.fitday.com/webfit/burned/calories_burned.html
You will have to enter the amount of 'effort' plus your weight, height & age. For me it would range between 0-27 calories per hour.
200 cals an hour Lesley?! I can't even get that out cycling for an hour! :rotfl:0 -
What can I say???:grinheart :grinheart :grinheart :kisses:

Oh dear - went to Fitday and I'm only using 24 calories per hour......
That must have been an urban myth from my youth!!! lol
I actually use Fitday software as a progress chart - someone at the gym gave me a disc. It's quite fiddly but really great when you get into it. It gives you a breakdown of all your intake down to vitc and all that stuff - one chart even makes it look like a nutrition label on food!NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........0
