He looks really cute vix - we had a very elderly Cairn terrier called Hamish and when he was getting wobbly with arthritis we gave him cod liver oil on his food and it really seemed to help - he limped on to 16 and a quarter and had a great quality of life! We found the oil easier to give that way as he was a demon to give tablets or capsules too!
    L xx

ahh good idea! my driving instructor told me to use that for my foot once.

He has medicine on his food already for his digestion, i wonder if it would conflict? Perhaps we could wack it in his tea. I might suggest it to mum!

Took the most adorable pic of murphy today with my minnie mouse ears on, will have to take another on my camera so i can upload it on here! Hes the best dog ever. Gunna be the worst thing ever when he goes, hes been such a large part of our family for so long.

    murphy is on dogster: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/158833

    Tagz: thats him!
  • congrats raph! Glad to see delly feeling good too - not great that he's around so much though. whats his reason?
    !

Habit? Control? Selfishness? Nosiness? just because he wants to - I would say all of the above. Right now I believe the FFA is so far up his own rear end with his selfishness he has no concept to take anyone else into consideration.... but I have established the first boundary anyway.

But to be fair, on Thursday he was finishing moving the rest of his stuff. Friday, he was collecting DS to take him out and the same on Saturday. I had made arrangements for someone else to do the collecting/dropping off so that I could get a break, but he wanted his bike more than he understood or respected my need for some space. We have agreed now that he won't contact the house or DS until Thursday at the earliest. However, that doesn't mean that MIl can't see him next week. I have no fight with the rest of his family.

Folks - gave into a terrible habit tonight and polished off most of a large bag of walkers sensations (the baslamic vinegar and red onion ones - yum). Think I need to break this one and soon.

Wonder what will be the official result of the heartbreak diet this week!
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

  • like your new avatar delly!
  • Thanks kpc - I've always loved daisies and since I'm swearing off men, and want to keep DS's image private for now, I felt that this was taking me back to the person I was before I met/married the FFA.

As for the effectiveness of the heartbreak diet - this week's result is -7lbs

Well that's SOTW sorted early this week Delly! I think congratulations are in order because although it's an extreme loss, it would have been easy to go in the opposite direction under the circumstances. Hopefully just a one off though, we wouldn't want to see that amount dropping off you weekly!!!

I've got a 1.25lb loss which I am absolutely over the moon about! This was on 8,401 calories for the week (1,200 per day average), and virtually no exercise (30 mins walking on 5 days plus 30 mins wii fit on 7 days) and it's TOTM! Got a feeling it's an anomaly, but h*ll I'm taking it because I never normally get them in my favour!!!

I'm going to more or less follow the same plan this week, but increasing the exercise by 15 mins per day.

    Good luck to everyone else!!!

Hello from granny  --- the eating machine. I seem to be able to do a day one, even a day two and a day three then it all goes pear shaped (probably more likely pear crumble with custard shaped) and I stuff food in my mouth until I feel slightly ill. If some one can suggest a solution I'd be exceptionally pleased.

I have been totally in the same boat recently - 2 or 3 days of good followed by eating everything in sight! Perhaps it is the turn of the season or the lack of proper summer. Who knows. No advice really on that front just know that you are not alone!

Well I survived the duathlon yesterday. My times were as follows:-

    30m04secs 5km run
    32m43secs 10km cycle
    33m26secs 5km run

Total (with transitions) 1hr 39mins. Came 392nd out of 450.

Considering the fact that most entrants were quite serious sporty types rather than setting themselves a serious challenge, I am quite happy with my times and my placing. I didn't stop at all, didn't go down to a walk from a jog/run. I wasn't 'racing' as such, I didn't push it on time as I didn't want to burn out early (!) and in all, feel really good about my achievement.

Pictures to follow, if I get some decent ones!
  • Whilst I am sure you do not recommend the heartbreak diet delly, at least you have had a very good result on the scales.
  • Well done efrieze 5.gif
I've somehow managed to put on 1lb this week, so obv scrabble does not counteract loads of wine!! hehe

Fantastic work Efrieze! Those are super times too! Absolutely the right thing to keep a steady pace and complete the course, in my opinion. What was the weather like for you? It was OK here and we're not too far away from where you were. Did you find it tough to run/cycle in such a crowd? I hope you managed to enjoy the experience while you were doing it. I also hope your friend who pulled out is proud (and a bit jealous) of you! Congrats!
