Happy Birthday Vic, hope you have a lovely day!

Thanks for all the support over the personal shopping nightmare. I told the PS that I wanted to look young and vibrant (the two things I don't feel) but despite her best efforts I still couldn't get away from how much weight I've put on and muscle tone I've lost :( It's tough because there'll be loads of people there I won't have seen for years who'll just think 'my, hasn't she got fat!' without really knowing about or understanding my illness. It's one of the few times I wish it wasn't an 'invisible illness'. (although technically I guess it's not as my unhappiness shows in my weight). Sorry, I'll get a grip soon, I know it's just one day (and photos for all enternity )

bails people are always going to be cruel, they are made that way but it is going to be how you feel inside that counts, sure you could wear a badge that explains it to everyone save you explaining it or have a pre writen card and give it out to everyone there save them asking but that is silly, there is no need because people will not ask, they will not make you feel uncomfortable, you will not be made to feel anything than them being happy you are there, that they are seeing you after all these years, that they can cath up with you and share what has been happening and the rest is by the by.

Many Happy Returns for the day Victory.

Was out all day yesterday and was so shattered after a later finish on Monday that I couldn't be bothered with the gym :( I have been suffering with tiredness of late, just not sleeping too well. Been craving sweet things as well. It not good.

Bails I have this feeling too and its all I can do not to wear a big white t shirt with the words "Yes I have put on weight, thats cause I bloomin ill" or words to that effect. More recently as I still feel Im big, I almost have to 'boast' my weightloss to people I meet to justify myself. Typically this happens if I get my salad out, (you should see what happens when I whip out my cucumber!) or like yesterday after the big meeting, was taken for a drink, I had a diet coke, and straight away got the person claiming that would 'love' to be more healthy, (while chugging a beer!) so I tell them it maynot look it but I am healthy, I have lost 13stone in weight and I just ran a 10k! It seems to work. :rotfl:

However remember one thing Bails, your gorgeous and beautiful, you do not need a badge and no amount of plastic surgery will help their ugliness! :D

  • Still, you never know it may get handed in. people can surprise you sometimes.

This is true! A couple of years ago my daughter and I were on the underground on the way to Heathrow. We had to change trains and I left behind a bag containing our airline tickets to Hawaii, about £500 pound in cash, my credit cards and passport on the platform!:eek: As soon as I got on I realised but of course the doors had closed and the tube left. We got off at the next stop and I waited (in hysterics) while my daughter immediatly ran over to the the other side and caught the tube back to the next station. Of course it wasn't on the platform anymore so she went upstairs to the ticket office and some kind soul had handed it in - intact.:T:A:T Not a penny missing!

I now don't get to go anywhere with my girls without them constantly checking I have all my belongings with me!:rotfl::o
So have faith - you never know!

  • bails - I so understand - the number of times I've wanted to wear a badge saying 'I've put on this much weight coz I'm ill and can't exercise'. Last year, before I started losing weight I met someone I hadn't seen for 25yrs at my bro's 50th. I was mortified, knowing he be thinking 'I'd let myself go'. It is such a tough one. And being in good shape was/is part of your life ethos and way of living - an intrinsic part of who you are interms of the expeditions you used to do, so it is a bit of a double wammy really. As we were saying the other day - it's coping with things like this that are the true expression of courage, not the climbing everest in a tutu.:grouphug: .

Victory bdaycake2.gifHappy Birthday: pleeeeese let you husband give you the treat he wants to - it's hard on a partner having their love rebuffed. I'm still training mine to not apologise everytime he gives me something:rotfl: (present I mean...:D )If he want to give you a candle, please let him. Have a brilliant 'rest of the day'. He must be really happy to have his family back.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Hi all,
    thanks for all the welcomes!
I am really going to have to check this everyday to keep up aren't I!
So far my week has been up and down!
I was all for it on Monday, it being the 1st September, chance to start again etc etc and I was good all day. But then yesterday I was BAD! Very bad!
I had 4 jammie dodgers, a snicker, a milkshake, a chocolate caramel cake...and more biscuits on the night!! Terrible, I know! Someone shout at me please??
I am thought, today starting afresh, I have thought about it, and realised, I WANT to lose this weight and yes it will be a challenge but I will try really hard and take each day one at a time. I keep on wanting to step on the scales and for it just to magically disappear but I know I have to work for it! And that is what I will do.
Try really really hard, and everntually...hopefully soon see some changes and improvements, and losses!!!!
Happy Birthday to Victory too !!!

:D First and foremost HAPPY BIRTHDAY VICTORY!!! :D

Hello everyone! I'm all mended, stitched up and back at home now :D Feeling just fine.

No driving for a week, no work for 4-6 weeks, and I can gradually get back into exercise after the first week, starting off very lightly (and no weights for 6 weeks).

Beanie, did you manage to get a waterproof jacket? Millets do the type that fold into a little pouch, I think around £12-£14? They last forever (or at least until you change sizes ;)) So sorry to hear about your friend :(

BB - good luck with getting back to goal. If I was on the chart I'd have made the move to the weight loss section again now too. I cannot consider myself as a maintainer now that I'm 7-10lbs over target :) We'll get there though! :D

Bails, good to see you posting here again but I'm sorry about the struggle you're having. If you haven't seen some of these people for years, I bet you're not the only one who has put on a bit of weight (or has other insecurities such as getting older), AND I bet they will just be happy to see you again, weight/size won't even come into it. Anyone who's going to judge you on your size alone, isn't worth worrying about :)

I might be at the computer a bit more than usual over the next few weeks. You poor lot! ;)

    missy hope you soon recover;)

bb thanks but yet again it has gone all wrong, we , I, caused a huge row and now we are trying to avoid each other, I lost my rings last year in the sea, before we moved from London a few months ago I saw one, a very good replica of my engagement ring and dropped hint after hint, two weeks ago it was my wedding anniversary but was in Spain (expected secretly to be greeted with the ring at the airport) two weeks later today my birthday, nothing, no presents but hey you can jump in the car with me go 60 miles there and back get the ring and I can buy you a pair of earings to match....lovely thought but that is it no thought put into it whatsover and I am spitting venom because from a womans point of view should have been bought, parcelled, labelled and given to me if not WA then today but yet again he did not go the extra, he just expects me to be pleased he thought about it, yes go ahead call me childish, selfish, ungratefull and more I call myself but I see it my way and he sees it his way and as far as I am concerned right now he can put his ring where the sun ...

  • Good to have you back missy - I trust the Dr defined 'light exercise' so you're singing from the same hymnsheet:D . Glad all went well.

Andyslinz - I think planning ahead could be key for you here: you know you are going to need snacks to keep you going, so make sure you always have healthy ones on you, or ready in the fridge. & try and avoid having any crisps/biscuits in the house if you can, so they aren't there to resort to. Preplan your lunch & evening meal, so if tired or out of time, you already have something easy lined up and don't resort to not dso healthy stuff. I often make our lunch the night before and pre evening meals too for this reason. Hope this helps.
Really cream crackered today - done monthly butcher shop and had to pop into work on day off for a mini emergency. If not a duvet day, then a duvet few hrs ahead me thinks.

Thankyou so much everyone for your support, very touched. I think BB has hit the nail on the head (as ever) - I am not the person I was last time I saw these people, my life has changed so much and the weight is like a constant reminder of that for me, caused by me pining for a life I can't have. I miss my life so much it's unbearable at times. It's been particualrly diffilcult over the past couple of months and I cant seem to shake it off; I've lost my fight :(
Normal service will hopefully be resmued soon...

    Glad everything went well Missy.

EDIT: Duvet day here too Bb, put the kettle on will ya? :D
