Since you're "in the know", can you confirm something I think I worked out a few deals ago (I posted details at the time) regarding the sizes of the Oakham chickens please? (Since I/we obviously like to get the heaviest available)

I noticed that there was a Medium at 1.75kg and a Large at 1.83 Kg, similarly I've seen an Extra large at 2.3kg whilst I actually bought a Large at 2.2kg.

Now remembering back to "old money" 4lbs is 1.818kg, and 5lbs is 2.27kg, both of which fit snuggly into the pairs of figures above.

So I guessed that Small is under 3lbs, Med is over 3lbs but under 4lbs, Large is over 4lbs but under 5lbs, and Ex Large is 5lbs and over.

So if my observations/calculations are correct, the heaviest Medium on offer would be 1.817kg and the biggest Large would be 2.26kg.
Just nice to know what the "target" is, "for maximum return", we should be aiming for ! ;)

90% of the Birds in store will be medium. If you are very very lucky you may find a large bird up to £9.50 in value. But the majority are going to be in the £6 to £8 range. Not sure how this converts to weights though. Still great value and more than enough for 4 people to chomp through.

Anyone been to buy meal deals yet this morning? Can anyone confirm that large chickens are also included in the deal this time round as was posted earlier. (I know that only the medium is listed) and also has anyone tried buying 6 deals and did both discounts come off.:D

Just heading out to m&s now so just looking for a heads up.

Well Good news ( for me) and Bad news for all

My £10 Axa M&S voucher was delivered this morning - what excellent timing !:j:T

No discount at all on the wine.

Still cannot complain, completely free Dine in for 2 !:D
  • Does this £10 deal automatcally come off at the tills or does the till operator have to do it? Just wondered if I can go through the self scan tills with it?
Also can I use a MS gift voucher on self scan? Thanks!
    MM x
p.s. You can tell I dont shop in M&S much!!

  • Hi all
I'm tempted by this deal for the first time - mainly because I have a £5 voucher to use up!
I am away on holiday on Monday though and I have quite a few things to use up already - can most of the stuff be frozen if needed?
I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!
2010 was the worst year ever :(
But 2011 so far has been a lot of fun! :j

Got 6 of the meal deals and an extra 10% came off the wine making it £57.37 for all 6. No extra 20% off. M & S must be getting wise to us!

Good news is that I got 6 medium chickens, all valued nearly £7.

No large chickens or I would have tried it!:rotfl:

    I feel like chicken tonight!!!:j
