You can rant at us all you like - that is what we are here for!

I hope that the money does turn up - have you called your bank to see if it is "pending" - at least you would know if it is "more or less" there.

Then you can go shopping :D

  • Hey Olive, rant away, ring the bank see what they say.

and you are ok, I mean you've paid everything - not ideal with OD but hey the money will show.

if not I start a hunt for a Bishop! :rotfl: I guess the bank would have the retina scan equipment........(sorry but that really made me laugh)

    Can't go shopping, I've promised Pap & Moozie a NSD :o
This site is def. my life saver, though DS2 thinks it proves that I don't have a life  Thanks for your support. :A

I've checked again, still no money, no contact from Popeye with Banker details and my account is still overdrawn. And yet last week I was contemplating reducing my overdraft limit as my cashflow was better :o
It is more likely a problem at the African end than the UK end. Certainly the snotty letters I have been writing to Barclays for their errors these last 11 months have always resulted in a patronising letter from them pointing out that it wasn't their error at all, but always the sending banks :o

Its taken almost 3 hours, what with the odd toast break (all the talk of chocolate made me hungry) and stopping to retrive DD2 from the tree where she had climbed and got stuck again, but I have now read the entire thread from start to finish and I'm inspired. Obviously not inspired inspired enough to be dressed yet at 9:45am. DD2 is carreering around the garden on her bicycle in her PJS, fortunatley the neigbours are used to this.

Its nice to know I'm not the only one with an away a lot of the time OH, obviously the challenges I set to amuse myself whilst hes away aren't necessarily the ones he had in mind prior to leaving.

Why is it that things seem to be so much more like hard work when they reappear? It takes me 3 days to do all the dirty laundry that he brings back by which time theres as much again. Slobbing in front of the tv watching a cheesy film with beans on toast is an acceptable meal for me and the demonic daughters as a treat but isn't considered food by he who has been eating 3 course restaurant meals for months on end and why is it that the reason non of his clothes fit on his return to the UK is down to me shrinking everything he owns rahter than him eating a full english breakfast every day? Actually I think the complaining about them makes it far easier to cope with the fact they're not around otherwise Mr Hob Nob would become my new best friend.

Anyway have to scrape some of the mud off DD2 and drag DD1 away from the tv to go to work. I have a nice lazy day planned. I'll arrive there at some point (hopefully before lunch) armed with a picnic and enough snacks to keep a football team going for a fortnight. Point the DDs in the direction of the P.E. cupboard for skipping ropes, cricket wickets, footballs and the like. Raid the bike store for bikes and plonk my bum on the playground to varnish benches until I run out of benches or loose the will to live.

Hope you locate Popeyes money asap.

Moo2moo, how nice to meet you.
And you have a lovely day planned. But how do you keep little hands (and bikes) away from your benches & wet varnish???

You're so right about the ex-pat lifestyle of restaurants and being looked after. But Popeye has a house which means that he cooks for himself whenever he can (i.e. when he's not on the road) and when I go out to visit I try and put something in the freezer to remind him of me :o They eat a lot of steak out there, so it's nice for him to have HM veg soup occasionally :rotfl:
And he never comes home with laundry, he has a maid :rotfl: :rotfl:

To welcome him home I have a DIY list ready, for instance he's due home late Oct/early November and the list looks like:
    1. gloss paint the bathroom cupboard doors (I can only be trusted with undercoat :o ) and the shelves in the hall
    2. check the floor under a particular tile in the bathroom, as I think there's some give, and I don't want a cracked tile.
    3. get the £$%%^&&$ strimmer working :o
    there'll be more :D

They have 2 playgrounds, a tennis court, a netball court, a climbing frame and 2 mowed playing fields within view of the benches. That and its very very quick drying varnish (15 minutes to be touch dry). They like the freedom of having school to themselves so they aren't usually any trouble at all.

Meanwhile I'm still here waiting for the third lot of sleeping bags to finish going round and round and round in the machine which tells lies. 46 Bosch minutes is more like a GMT hour, even longer if you're trying to be somewhere else and only hanging around because its claiming it has 11 incrediably long minutes left to run.

The OH used to have a house boy and his own swimming pool but the current company prefer them to live in a hotel and frequently shuffle them around so I'm never quite sure what country hes in. I'd prefer it if he was cooking for himself as at least then he wouldn't bother with desert or a starter or even lobster thermidor but since the company are picking up the tab its a bit like an all you can eat buffet and boy can he eat!

It's Thursday, it must be.....? :rotfl: How can you not know what country he's in?
I guess if lobster is on the menu he's not in the forces?

My father worked for BOAC and when he got home after 3 weeks of living out of a suitcase, and eating restaurant & airline meals, all he wanted was domestic bliss. (He's having more of that than he wants at the mo, as she forgets what she's doing, or cooks him the same meal 11 days in a row :rotfl: so he tries to menu plan/shop etc.)

The longest minute in the world is the 1 minute on a Bosch washing machine when the load is finished, but before you can open the door. I swear it is 3 x that length :rotfl:
  • There is a truism in that statement about the washing machine..mine is the same, but a hotpoint.

I wish i could give Mr. B a long list of jobs to do..but he would only spend money on bribing the kids or a tradesman to do it instead..

My floors are all giving upstairs and there will be another of the oh what can i spend my money on moments soon...
