OliveOyls 82 day challenge

:hello: Hi I hope no-one minds but I'm going to write my latest challenge down and try and keep a record of my progress.
As some of you know OH has taken a job abroad for 2 years, and we are 9 months into it. I absolutely hate not having him around, but family ties (elderly parents & children at university), my job and our debt keep me here. Besides the life of an ex-pat spouse wouldn't suit me I don't play golf & I don't like shopping :rotfl:

Usually we get to see each other every 6-8 weeks, and that is bearable. This time we just cannot find even a weekend that we're both free, so we're looking at late September  That will save on flights (£600+) but.....
So we've given each other a set of challenges/goals. Mine are:
  • Earn an additional £1,000 through e-bay, mystery shops, booting & etc
  • Lose one whole stone in weight.......
  • Get the garden under control
  • Get my latest play written down.
So starting tomorrow (I've consumed an entire tub of houmous for my supper today :o ) I have 75 days to go......

Right now, I'm feeling really sorry for myself as I've just left him at the airport, but I'm hoping any success here will cheer me up a bit. ;), so I hope no-one minds my blog-ette

Must be really hard being away from hubby for so long!
Hopefully the challenge will keep your mind occuppied so you don't pine too much....... and roll on September!!!!

Perhaps I could send my OH along to keep him company, I could do with not seeing him until September!

Well thanks for the encouragement guys :D and why don't you join me Buffy?
Sarah; Popeye would welcome the company I'm sure - but I tell him he is out there to WORK and beer-drinking is forbidden :rotfl:

After I posted last night I went off to bed feeling pathetically sorry for myself. And I slept badly and overslept this morning but spookily felt quite positive about this challenge. I'm in work having only grabbed breadsticks for lunch (ate the houmous last night :o ) and missing breakfast all together. Not the best start to a diet :o

Tonight I must mow the lawn, and hopefully I'll get some photos taken to list stuff on e-bay. I must actually start in order to achieve these goals, which is where I usually go wrong.:o

    Day 1
and I haven't been able to do a stroke in the garden. It started chucking it down an hour before I left work and continued for so long that mowing the lawn was out of the question.
Ah well, I don't think I'm too disappointed......

If I didn't have this challenge I'd have curled up with House and had a cosy night in. But I felt obliged to do something, so I've listed 7 items on e-bay.

If I do a bit each day, I'm more likely to succeed......at least that is what I hope. Baby steps eh Hypno?

baby steps indeed.....in 70 odd days time (odd being the operative word, here!) you will be looking back and seeing just how far you have travelled :D

    Day 2
I've listed a couple more things on e-bay, but will hold fire now until Tuesday when there's another 5p listing day.

Finally got a mystery shop too, I haven't been able to accept the 2 drinks in a pub type assignment, OH and I used to be such an efficient team we could do them swiftly and thoroughly. Now there's no way I would want to drink a beer :rotfl: and when I invite friends they don't seem to understand that to make a profit, I can only spend what can be reclaimed :rotfl: This MS is a staged one, so it might take some time to pay out and I'm not going to count the money until it arrives, but it is a nice one, involving frozen meals :D

I've cleared tomorrow to do some work in the garden, lets hope the weather is better.
Couldn't face walking home, so phoned DD for a lift :o Still, that's her budget not mine :D
Today has not been too bad otherwise. Had my night out for 20p (just coffee at rehearsal to pay for). And it is so nice to mix with people who don't think I'm wet to be missing my OH. I'm sure my work colleagues think I'm lucky to have a part-time marriage

Hi OliveOyl - the challenge sounds great, how's the foodplan going? And the gardening? I'm desperate to improve my garden, I just joined a site called myfolia.com. The layout is a bit weird, but you can basically set up a number of gardens for yourself - I've got indoor, container, back and front - then gradually list the plants in each. And you can keep a journal for each, and log in lists of things to do - haven't got round to the latter yet, and haven't even listed all my plants, but I *am* diarising what I do, I find it helpful, since my garden's so big and I've got so much other stuff on the go. The site is free, too (and I make no referral commission!). It might be too intense for you, but maybe not.

Anyway, this is your main challenge. Have a good one today!

  • Good luck with your challenge Olive - I think it is a great idea to set short/small (in the grand scheme of things!) challenges. I am concentrating on overpaying just one of my debts at the moment as I think that if I try to spread say £100 over the whole of my debts it doesn't have much impact (psychologically!) Wishing you really good luck with it all!
