Hi, I have a pair of broken glasses - the swan like metal nose piece has broken off and needs to be welded. I found a place called EyeWearRepair on the in internet - they are based in Cheshire. They are asking 14.99 for a weld including return postage. I phoned the number but it is out of service. However, the fellow did reply to my email but it sounded a bit dodgy. Needless to say, I am hesitant to use them. Can anyone recommend them or someone else for this repair.

    Thanks

Zennioptical sent me an email last Thursday saying the glasses had been shipped, also gave me a tracking reference number, so far nothing in the post and no trace of the tracking number on the shipping site. Grrrrrr....

Well, OH's varifocals with matching magnetic sunshades and my sunglasses delivered to our house in Spain this morning. OH over the moon with them, although I thought the magnetic shades seem a bit flimsy (just as well I ordered 2 extra pairs for him) cost 70$ and I'm pleased with my prescription sunglasses at 18$ (at this price I could change them for a different style every year)
Ordered them 17 July both pairs arrived in same package on 4 August. Only criticism so far is that the specs cases look a bit cheap and cheerful although seem sturdy enough, still what can you expect for these prices.
If anyone else is thinking of using them, don't worry about it :j

cincin, if your local vision express has a lab they do solder repairs there, normally under £20 but depeands on the branch, or specsavers may.

For £14.95, I would think you are better off getting brand new glasses and not have to worry about the weld or anything else. I got mine from www.fashionspecsdirect.co.uk and am very happy. They had an offer on and sent me free prescription sunglasses for my hols as well. Delivered from the UK in a few days !
  • I've been trying to get an answer from SelectSpecs as I want to order some of their Rudy Project Skalpel range.
Can't get an answer by e-mail (and yes I've checked the spam filter).
Worries me that the phone number just says "send an e-mail to sales@selectspecs.com" and nothing happens, not even a reply acknowledging the e-mail's been received. Also worries me in case anything went wrong?
Anyone got a real phone number for them? or should I go elsewhere?
  • Just bought two pairs of glasses from http://39dollarglasses.com

I wanted varifocals with transition lenses, my local opticians (one of the big chains) wanted £330.00 just for one pair of lenses. 39dollarglasses did me a pair of glasses with high index transition lenses plus a pair of high index clear glasses for US$276.90, delivered UK, about £140.00.

The glasses arrived quicker than the lead time I was quoted in the UK and that's in the middle of a postal dispute!

Hi! I have been reading this thread, and decided to take the plunge and order some glasses from Fashionspecsdirect.com. Well, I only have good things to say about this company! I received my glasses quickly, but they were a bit misaligned, so I gave the company a call and left a message. A gentleman called me back within half an hour, and was very apologetic, absolutely lovely. He offered to make me another pair immediately and post it the next day, and I didn't even have to send my original pair back! All that for free!
That is an absolutely outstanding customer service experience, and I just had to tell about it. :D

I just receive an email from them saying that the glasses were posted today, and explaining what could have been the cause of the problem. I'm VERY VERY happy with the service and would recommend, no problem. :T Thanks for the tip, MSE people!

    Hi Apegia

I was going to place an order for almost £170 with SelectSpecs before I read your message but now I think I'll look elsewhere.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

i wrote on here the other day that i really liked my glasses from optical4less.com - i've not changed my view. but i just thought i'd share something.

i've just ordered two more pairs (one glasses and one prescriptions sunglasses) and needed an invoice for them asap for making a claim. i also didn't order the sunglasses properly (cos i picked the wrong lenses so couldn't order the tint). well, within a couple of hours of making the order, i had a message. various messages went backwards and forwards (they never seemed to take more than 30 mins to reply but i would have been happy with the same day!), they amended the order, put the right lenses on the order, added the tint, arranged an invoice and everything. you know when you come out of a shop in shock because the customer service was just as it should be (shame that that's a shock, but you know what i mean!), well, the customer service at optical4less are out of this world. seriously, seriously good.

one pair of glasses, one of prescription sunglasses (both rimless - so more expensive), free shipping and a free glasses tool thingy, under US$150 (after a discount code that's floating about on the web). that's what? £75... £37 a pair? brilliant! oh and that's also with the more expensive lenses!

my first pair that i got a few weeks ago are still my favourite specs that i've had. from memory, they arrived in about a week from order but they say to give two weeks (i think).

i really really recommend this company!
