just curious, what made you choose this company? My OH wants me to order some varifocals for him. Please let us know how you get on

cost for the frames/lenses that i wanted. simple as that really. i know that some people on here have also recommended them so that helped too. i'm just nervous though!

i've ordered a pair of rimless glasses with the thiner lenses and, with delivery, it comes to $82. if they're any good, that's ridiculously cheap.

i will give feedback once I've got them!

Have ordered varifocals from a number of companies over the internet and have found the following to be reliable and good value:-
    http://zennioptical.com
    http://www.optical4less.com
    http://www.39dollarglasses.com
    http://selectspecs.com
Before ordering I have available my statistics like accurate pupil distance, bridge size, temple arm length, lens height/width, and of course a trusted presciption. That last bit is important because I have found if one goes to different Opticians for an eye test, the result is different prescriptions which will likely have a effect on varifocals with their tiny reading area. With a High Street Optician one can always go back and have any issues remedied but thats a little more difficult with a distance purchase. Bear in mind that bigger lenses work better with varifocals. Zenni suggest a lens height of 32mm or more.
39dollarglasses have excellent customer service who are helpfull on the telephone and Zenni are similar.

I received my pair of rimless glasses from goggles4u a week after ordering.I'm very pleased with them.As already mentioned they arrived in a very nice case, surrounded by polystyrene box and in a cloth bag with a small screwdriver enclosed!!Fortunately I persuaded my local optician to fit them for me, ie. bend the arms to fit around my ears.My family are interested in ordering but don't have the cheek to go into the optician and ask for theirs fitting also.My question is, is it possible to bend the arms yourself?I would imagine it would need a hairdryer and pliers??!!Thanks, Foxy.

If you've got rimless mounts I'd definitely advise against doing it yourself, especially if you have plus lenses (for long sightedness). As the lenses are drilled through you need to clamp them carefully over the bolts to relieve the pressure caused as you're adjusting the sides to avoid the lenses cracking. Same goes for supra/semi rimless frames (the ones with the cord around the lens holding the lens in place). They'll have tools for that in a shop. With full rimmed frames you're less likely to damage the lenses but it's still fairly easy to chip them if you're too aggressive, especially if the lenses are on the thin side. Any practise should be happy to adjust them for you free of charge tho - even if you didn't buy from them they should be thinking that if they make a good impression you'll come to them next time!

Even if you just need the end tips reshaped around your ears I'd still advise going into a shop - they're much more practised at doing it evenly so you don't end up with wonky specs ;)

I waited about 3 wks for an order (my 2nd order) and decided to email them asking where it is and got an email back from them within 2 days saying to phone their customer support in california:eek: Well I did and I was 5th in line to be answered...eventually got through....the lassie I got was superb, couldn't have been better at all and she reordered them again and I recieved them in 18 days. I'm totally pleased with the 4 pairs I ordered although they are abit funky:D woo hoo!!

A company I would TOTALLY order from again no problem:j

By the way I was on the phone for about 10 mins and I just got my bill in and it was for £1 odd:T

Husband wants varifocals, NHS prescription has prescription for near and distance on 2 separate lines ie 8 boxes per eye, but Zennioptical form just has 4 boxes per eye, sph, cyl axis and add, so don't know what to put in add box as drop down values only go to +3.75 which doesn´t relate to anything on prescription.
Anyway I´ve written to them yet again
