Of the many companies I have ordered specs from, Glassescrafter is the only supplier I would never deal with again.

Their address is in Oxford but the specs arrived direct from China over a month after ordering. You would find better frames in a poundshop and as for the lenses -- I don't know what presciption they came from but it was certainly not mine.

Have been using Zenni for my requirements who so far have been good for price and quality although my current order is 18 days with no show but will give them a little longer before ringing as three weeks is not unusual for spectacles.

Hi , I recently bought a pair of glasses whilst on my hols in Cyprus (who were very competitive). However i am not happy with the lens as I feel a strain on my eye. I just wondered if anyone has sent their existing frames with a prescription to any of the dealers listed in the thread, Im just trying to find out the cheapest way to get them replaced, as I feel that my optician in Cyprus may charge me for a replacement lens. Thanks

Just rimless at https://www.justrimless.com are very good. Expect to pay £10-15 for standard lenses.

I ordered 2 pairs of glasses from Goggles4u and received them quite quickly. They are quite good quality too but I am sure one of the pairs has a higher prescription than the other. I have been wearing contact lenses since my OH stood on my specs so not sure if this is why they feel a bit a stronger than normal. Although one pair does definately feel stronger. The ground looks like it's really high and i feel a little wide eyed when wearing one of the pairs. I have contacted Goggles4u to advise that I think 1 pair is stronger but is there a way I can double check? Would an optician be able to tell by looking at them? I am not due an eye test til later in the year but I'm wondering if it's a good idea to go and see if they'll check them, hopefully for free! I only got the glasses online as I was struggling with my lenses every day all day at work so thought they'd be a quick fix til I booked my eye test in September when it's due and when I've got some extra money (hopefully!). I'm a bit wary if I send them back the company will say they're fine and i'll end up paying out for postage etc. Any advise would be great :)

Hmmm think I've answered my own question. The English on their little forum is terrible (probably cause it was written by someone who works for the company) and there customer service email is @gmail.com so doesn't fill me with confidence. If its too good to be true it probably is...

Still, any input much appreciated, as I really want them to be legit at these prices! :D

I've bought a couple of pairs from glassescrafter, 1 Diesel and 1 Oakley. There was a problem with one of the lenses in the Diesel frames, but the Oakleys were fine. If you do have a problem it means sending the frames back to Shanghai, which is a major hassle. On top of that the frames take a few weeks to arrive in the first place (however they do appear genuine and are very cheap).

If I were to order from them again I would just ask them to send the frames, and then get them glazed in England, that way if there's a problem with the lenses its easier to get sorted out.

It is a genuine site, but I know what you mean, it does look a bit mickey mouse in places!

I was given the wrong prescription form goggles4u and they didnt require a return they simply sent me a new pair, ask on the live help function (which kicks in after ten ish)

However there are many reasons why this can occur, did you get one pair with a tint ? If one pair sits closer to the eye than the other, or if the lenses are angled towards the cheeks. etc

The vision in your contacts will always be better than specs so dont compare them and worry, take the new specs and your copy of the prescription to an opticians and explain you purchased them elsewhere and feel you arent happy but didnt get much help where you purchased them. Opticians love it when they show one another up ;) and will/should fall over themselves to help in the hope you will go there for your next purchase !
