  • Hola to all, this is my first post on this fantastic site. This whole spectacle ripp off really fascinates me, I have searched around and found some interesting sites and articles. It is very clear that you can buy cheaper spectacles online. But how good is the quality? I mean loads of sites offer cheapness but I bet the quality is rubbish and unfortunately you will only find out when they turn up on your doorstep. So i was searching around for designer glasses and came across a site called www.spectacle-warehouse.co.uk , I have been incontact with these and they seem very happy to help out. They sell cheaper designer glasses at a better price than the high street so I thought I wud put out their bumf out there. I came across this article from them https://www.articlestree.com( called the Great Spectacle rip off) , just to say to all be careful of quality.

Hi do not want to bore you but i am a great fan of C.S.I NY and in the last series the pathologist had a pair of spectacles that split across the bridge of the nose. I thought they were weird but looked funky they fasten with a very strong magnet. I looked high and low for them but nothing, until now. I have seen Anthony Worrell Thompson, Helen Mirren with them.

Found a great UK site https://www.clicspecs.com at great prices selling the readers in different colours. So I had a couple of pairs never looked back (excuse the pun); they are great. They also sell for sports people, goggles for snowboarding and skiing they have great sunglasses as well.

Great price and good quality lens you can even get the girls and kids some. I love them and the looks you get from people they are a great conversation starter, check them out.

Hi My hubby and are were out for dinner a couple of weeks ago and met a man who was one of OH customer's ( he was a postman then) and it was the man who owns Clicspecs and he was wearing a pair. They looked great and he gave me a money off voucher. He also told us about GLASSES DIRECT doing them. I would have loved a pair but had just ordered Varifocals from Glasses Direct so they will have to wait. Anyway the varifocals are great for £112.00 and they even sent someone out to take the measurements. Highly recommended!!!
  • I used Glasses Direct (GD) for variofocals. Poor communication and long delays.
Two weeks for a home visit a further week to coat lenses. Glasses arrived with nose pads badly adjusted so un wearable. Visited GD to get repaired and now side arms falling apart 42 days since order placed. £28 cheaper than ASDA who offered delivery in 28 days. GD did say they were a new company and having problems with home visits and coating supplier(s).
In short glasses cheap as cheap glasses. Never again.

I have used goggles4u recently. They were delivered directly from Pakistan, took just over 2 weeks from date of order. Quality was good and they were very well packed. They were titanium rimless frames with tinted Bifocal lenses for approx £25 inclusive. They are extremely light weight.

I have just taken delivery of 2 pairs of rimless glasses from goggles4u. Sadly mine haven't been made up correctly and after about 20 minutes wearing one pair I had the headache from hell. I don't know what they've done with them but they are going back and I'm going to buy some from a UK supplier instead :-(

I eat my words - all of them. I visited Glasses Direct again today and spoke to Operations Manager. They takes complaints and problems very seriously and importantly take ownership for them. They are reviewing suppliers and making changes. Problems are reported to Jamie the founder. I do feel this is a company that does live up to its slogan "The customer is the boss". I did pay GD £15 for frames so wrong to compare them to a high streets £90 frames. An aside their office is in a very very beautiful part of Wiltshire and a lovely building (Webpage does not do it justice) I get the feeling they are great company too work for. No cup of tea though!.
I would not hesitate to use or recommend them. "Promptly admit when we were wrong........"
