Sellers not posting feedback until they've recieved feedback

I deal on Ebay and have a rating of almost 2500 with 100% feedback. I used to leave positive feedback on receipt of payment, but my one and only negative came from someone in USA who would not pay for airmail and left negative when the goods had not arrived in four weeks. As surface takes anything up to 10 weeks, he was totally out of order - I now leave feedback once my buyer tells me he /she is happy with their purchase.
Just in case you are wondering, I did go down to 99.9% but went back up to 100% (not sure whether this was due to my feedback going up, or the length of time)You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

For the first time in 300 or dealings I have a problem in someone not sending the goods, not replying to emails, messages etc. It's not a big amount of money and I have started the dispute process with Paypal ( I am not sure anything happens in any case at the end, even if the seller does not respond to paypal as they are newbies) BUT although I would ike to leave neg feedback can the newbie just out of spite leave negative in return without the innocent party having anyway of removing it. I am reluctant to do "the right thing" as I will lose my 100%.0

I hate it when sellers don't post feedback until you have posted feedback about them.
If you have paid for an item (especially if you have used PayPal) then the seller should immediately give you positive feedback.
My policy now is to not leave feedback for sellers who do this. In fact, I think ebay should prevent a buyer leaving positive feedback unless the seller has left feedback first. A buyer could still leave negative feedback if the seller was a bad though.
Rant over.
Why on earth would you think such a policy is unreasonable? Disputes almost always happen AFTER payment has been sent.
The only reason I can see that you would have a problem with this is if you wanted to use the feedback system as some kind of leverage in any potential dispute.
Feedback should only be left once both parties are satisfied with the transaction. This can only be guaranteed once the buyer indicates they are satisfied with the goods.
I am a power seller with over 22000 feedback score. For the first 2 years on eBay I left feedback on receipt of payment, only for one or two people a month to take advantage and try to use this as leverage when taking unreasonable positions or just to be malicious.
Some people even seem to take pleasure in leaving negative feedback, as they think their actions will result in hardship for the seller!
Just today someone left me a negative feedback within 2 hours of winning the auction, after sending no payment or any correspondence. The comment was nothing short of libel.
Serious sellers know that the eBay feedback system is seriously flawed and after the first few negative comments I stopped caring. You will only realise this when you have seen some of the !!!! pulled on you that I have.0 -
When I sell, my interest is to get a quick payment, with polite communication. That is all I judge on. As soon as I have the funds I will post feedback. Its common courtesy. Just like a shopkeeper saying Please and Thankyou when they take the cash for the till. Does a shopkeeper ever say "I wont say 'Thanks' in case you dont like the goods when you get them home. Come back and say you like them, then I will thank you for putting the cash in my till."
You can generally tell if feedback is coming or not. Generally, people who can string more than a few words together in their comms will leave feedback.
I reckon that I have not received feedback on about a third of my transactions. But I have confidence in my products, so I dont feel the need to wait in case people neg me.
What Ebay should do is add another bit of info to user profiles:-
Total Transactions completed
Total Feedback Left
Total Feedback Received.
It would be more transparent on what kind of an ebay user you have and you could make a judgement on whether to withold feedback in case you feel you wont get any back.*************************

Yes and this topics gets ever so slightly more boring each time it is raised. Lets face it, there are two camps: the "buyers-should-leave-feedback-first"s and the "seller-should-leave-feedback-first"s and never the twain shall meet...0 -
Ok, everyone has their own views but I think there are plenty of other things happening in the world that are more important and deserve to be talked about rather than this.Weight Loss - 102lb0

probably..but perhaps not on the e-bay board
This is a forum where people can ask questions and hope for help. Just because some people are familiar with the discussion, doen't make people's questions less important to them.
I think we should remember that this forum is to discuss anything relevant to ebay. If you don't like the topic, don't post

i like crankup's idea about having a total for the number of feedbacks left. my feedback is over 400 so i really don't care whether people leave it or not. i know that i don't do anything to deserve bad feedback, and even if something did upset the buyer that doesn't change the fact that payment was sent - therefore i always leave feedback when i've been paid. so what if someone leaves bad feedback for me, if they paid me i should leave positive feedback for them so what's the problem with being the first to leave feedback? any seller with confidence in their goods should feel able to do the same..52% tight0

its just that u get a few idiots who dont seem to realize that delays/losses in deliveries can arise especially when u dealing with RM. They expect (or should i say demand) it to be delivered the next day. In other cases u have ppl buying stuff without reading the listing properly and gving poor feedback because they not happy with the item ( even though its exactly as listed). At least by not leaving feedback ist it makes them think twice before putting a poor feedback. I never mind a fair negative feedback left to me .0
