Sellers not posting feedback until they've recieved feedback

As a seller I leave feedback when the buyer has completed all that they are required to do. I consider that this includes the act of them actualy receiving the item.
Until I have confirmation of receipt, I do not know whether the sale is complete. For example if they are carded, but don't collect from the sorting office the sale has not completed.
The only way I know that the buyer has fulfilled their requirements is when they leave feedback saying they have received the goods.0 -

ummmmm feedback is OPTIONAL so if a seller doesn't leave feedback maybe they aren't waiting for you as a buyer to leave it, maybe they aren't leaving any at all......
or, if they leave it after you do maybe they forgot and you leaving f/b reminded them......:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Winning an Item Overview
You've won an item in an auction-style listing or confirmed that you want to buy an item with Buy It Now.
Here's what to do next:
1. Review the seller's payment instructions as written on the item listing.
2 . If the seller has selected to use eBay's Checkout service, click on the Checkout button ......etc.......
3. Pay the seller.
4. Wait to receive the item.
5. Leave the seller feedback.0 -
The whole feedback system is a joke anyway - if you have a problem then it's just sellers and buyers holding each other to ransom.
Feedback is EBay's way of washing their hands of any responsbility for transactions, by allowing people to rate each other.
As a seller, once I post an item, I always ask the buyer to drop me an email to let me know if the item has arrived in a satisfactory condition, and also whether they are happy with everything. Then I will leave feedback. The vast majority of buyers ignore my email, and simply leave feedback first. So this indicates that most buyers are not that bothered about me leaving it last.0 -
I am with the majority of people on this thread who think it is reasonable for a seller to wait and hear whether the item has been received safely and therefore the sale is complete.
I bought a book last month, the seller gave me positive feedback as soon as I paid, but I was unhappy with it when it arrived, so I emailed asking for her comments, no reply, so I started a claim through Paypal, still no reply. So it looks as though she will be getting a negative. So she has left me positive for paying (which I did) but has not taken into account any communication after the sale.
Like someone said above, the sale is not over until everyone is happy. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
Seamus wrote:...I hate it when sellers don't post feedback until you have posted feedback about them...
Why should you hate it?
- Do you just want to be able to leave spiteful feedback knowing that the seller cannot leave you a negative for your unreasonable behaviour?
- Do you just want to be able to claim that you haven't received the item or make unwarranted complaints about the item without fear that the seller can alert others to your unethical behaviour with a negative comment?
- Do you just want to be able to return the item having collected a positive feedback? A new way to improve your feedback score...
Get real, the feedback system only works properly when both parties behave correctly and trust each other. Feedback is to report on the whole transaction, not just as an indicator of how promptly the buyer pays and how promptly the seller delivers.
The transaction is over when the buyer has had a chance to check the item and has indicated to the seller that he is happy with it. The best way for the buyer to do this is to leave feedback for the seller who then knows the transaction has been completed satisfactorily and will leave feedback.
It's daft for a seller to leave feedback upon payment because so much can still go wrong with the transaction: damaged or lost in transit, item not as expected by the buyer, item not performing as expected etc... AND that's not even considering the real possibility that the buyer is out to defraud the seller.
Seamus - if you are happy with the items you buy then when you have received them leave the appropriate feedback. It's the item you're buying, not the feedback, in fact the feedback is not obligatory and is just a bonus for you.0 -
How can a seller leave feedback before the buyer has the item - the transaction is not complete until then.
This is why I always email when i post the item & ask them to let me know when it arrives. That way I'm either notified by feedback or email & can consider the matter closed.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -

Totally agree with frugglewump...
The transaction is not finished until I receive email or feedback notification that the buyer has received and is happy with their purchase.
If I'm buying, then I leave feedback on receipt of the item... I certainly don't expect the seller to leave feedback first.0
