50p a day til Christmas - healthily?! Weezl's next challenge...

Is this any help, Weezl ? In your post on top of that page you refer to fixing the problems in the index - and a quick whizz through the index itself tells me that you have not edited any of the "signposts" after 13th July (soup section).
Talking to myself now - always a worrying sign.
Anyway, if you go here, there is a recipe for a cheese and lentil loaf you said you'd index the next day, but I can't see it in the index - would it be safe to assume that life interfered at that point, and that's where it all stopped for the time being ? So, if you take that as a starting point....
Ye gods. Only 120 pages to trawl through...

Apple Cheese
1 kg apples
200 ml water
200 g sugar
Juice 1 lemon
Chop apples roughly, add water and simmer until very soft and mushy. Sieve, return puree to pan and add sugar and lemon juice. Simmer stirring frequently until you can scrape a spoon through the centre of the puree and leave a clean line through it.0 -
lol!!!!! We'll both be sneaking in the lentils then!!!!
I bought 3 bags of cheap frozen mince....and when I attempted to cook it, it smelt so bad, I thought I only thought that because I was pregnant, I ended up throwing it away, now I'm not pregnant, I attempted to cook it again, and it was making me feel sick again, so I couldnt eat it, made OH try it, and he couldnt eat it either, so now have 2 and half bags of frozen mince in my freezer that will not be eaten, what a waste (not very frugal I know)!!!. Dont know if it was just that particular brand or not but have now gone back to fresh blummin expensive mince!!!!
I can't eat the frozen stuff either - makes me heave0 -

I am making http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-_nnTyh2WsA&feature=related one of these with family photos in for my mum and dad, OH's mum, my sister and maybe my nan and grandad. I think they are lovely ideas. http://www.kckpl.lib.ks.us/ys/CRAFTS/Ratrein.htm these are also going in everyones hampers. I'm making bathbombs for all the females. Making my mum yeast free bread because shes allergic, strawberry jam for dad...lots and lots of things too many to mention but everyone is getting a hamper
I canny wait to get organised
Hi Bashful, I love the hamper idea, we decided to do exactly the same thing this year as all the (6) kids are over 21 but two and paired up with partners but one. Doing quillows, jams, chutney, pampering bits for the girls and think going to put in a top of some sort for the boys as find them harder to do for. Adding a bottle of wine etc. Doing the same thing for DH mum and dad and stepmum and sending a package to my mum in the States. Keeping fingers crossed they will like them.:AI am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
The only "hamper" (decorated box) I've ever done was for my parents on their Ruby Wedding Anniversary (Sept 2004). My Mum has a few Royal Doulton figurines, so I'd managed to track down one called "Ruby" from me and my hubby, but didn't have a clue what to give them from the kids. So I went to one of the supermarkets and picked up a load of "red" foods (red onion, red grapefruit, tomatoes, radishes, tinned red salmon, tomato soup, pickled beetroot, tomato ketchup, strawberry jam, etc.).
Hubby thought I was daft as it wasn't as if they were short of cash, but they absolutely loved it. My Dad admitted later they probably loved it more because they could have afforded the stuff - meaning no-one had ever done anything like that for them before so it was a totally unique present.....
I'm not going for full-blown hampers this year, but I am planning on giving my Dad some of the Blackberry jam I've made if it looks OK closer to the timeI would make them some biscuits/muffins as well, but I know that in the past my Mum would have eaten more of them than my Dad -- and that's not a good thing as she was diagnosed with diabetes last year

that's a lovely idea for a hamperand you see they appreciated that you put so much thought into finding something so perfect for the occasion that they would like, that's worth so much more isn't it

Sounds Excellent! :T:T:T:T
I just typed all this and then managed to delete it?!?! not sure how even?! Anyway....:o
When I was sent a box of "prezzies" thro the post I had scrunched up sheets of Crepe paper in between all the presents. Was really lovely. made it special. Poundland are doing a pack at the moment. I thought that it was 100 sheets but that seems like such a lot for £1? So maybe I am wrong:rolleyes:
Also they often do nice little writing sets/envelopes or card sets and nice pens to go with them. maybe that could be a prezzie for an older lady? will keep thinking0 -
Good morning all
Well, fed DH the cottage pie that I added lentils to last night:rolleyes: Asked him how it was and his comment was "you used the veggie mince didnt you?" Said nope but that I had used red lentils to bulk it out to have some another night.....all he said was "thought it tasted different" lol, I think I may have used a few too many lentils. DH did say it still tasted nice just different. kath
:rotfl: I had this too last night, from two of the three offspring SIZE=1]the other was out for dinner[SIZE=2 & told them I'd put the veggie in with the mince to save time.....technically I wasn't lying, cuz there was half dozen crated carrot, good swag of frozen mixed, onion, celery AND I sliced up half a savoy...but that was on top of a generous helping of red lentils & dried soya tooThe actual conversation I had was:- DO "Didn't put much meat in this!" ME "Yes I did! A full pound thank you very much  " DO "Can't taste it!" ME "Cuz I put the veg in with it instead of serving seperately...ok! I won't do it next time!!!" & glowered with my best mum's-hacked-off scowl for added effect :rotfl:
Anyhoo, there's enough left over to make a pie & a couple of little pasties for lunch boxes..Pup has another lot too & seemed to enjoy having lumpy ox-liver in with his onion-less sheep pie :j
I've never knowingly LIED to my children, but I've had a lot of practise stretching the truth & it goes a lot further than my financesFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.
