Right
now even i am wondering if i have gone mad :rotfl: :rotfl:
here is a pic of my jars :T :T
these are the empty ones there are loads more full of stuff i have made over the last few months
the tall ones at the back (old cider vinegar bottles)are hopefully going to be filled with ketchup if the sun ever ripens my tomatoes then topped with a cork and sealed with a wax seal
until this year i had never done preserves now i am addicted although some recipes are not cheap unless you have access to an apple or plum tree or shed loads of tomatoes etc and the cost of vinegar and sugar doesnt help but boy does it taste good
trying out a pork pie recipe soon then can have a proper ploughmans
Thanks to whoever recommended animal vegetable miracle book i got it and really enjoying it

is it a bit weird to be jealous of someone's glass jars?
*is feeling a bit abnormal (for a change! - not!)* :rotfl:0 -
shaz, beki and all other glass jar stockpilers,
Are your plans for chutneys part of a christmas plan or are they for you and your family?
Last year we did hampers with chutneys, relishes, ice cream sauce, chilli jam, apple cheese... Went down well with most folk!
Beki, just a quick thought, ISOM has been very successful with selling her strawberry jam at work, making approx £1 profit per jar. If you made big batches, it could make a healthy contribution to the holiday fund?!I'll butt out now!

Awwww! not enough sugar!
I've got 300g of sugar. The original recipe calls for 200g. If I made a double batch and added sultanas for extra sweetness, do people think that might work?
Also, hello to new people and ex-lurkers, lovely to see you

a bit of each - some for xmas pressies, and some for keeping us in jams/chutneys etc

i would think would be ok i replace some of the sugar with glace cherries sometimes too
jams and chutney are at the research stage for me as am considering asking a little village farm shop to sell them on my behalf and want to get it right
the shop sells all kinds veg so can hopefully get cheaper ingredients there too so
some things there isn't much profit in like beetroot it cost me £3 to make 3 large jars not inc the gas but so much better but cnt see anyone paying £2 a jar
Hoping uni might be an outlet for stuff too
Shaz-eating leftover risotto and lemon cake yummy*****
