Your Mum and I have the same taste in TV
But to that you need to add Sherlock Holmes (which is just finishing), Taggart (the original), Midsummer Murders, Maigret, Bergerac, CSI (any genre), Law & Order (and genre) and Numbers !!!!!
Many more besides, but they're the ones I've watched recently (except Bergerac, which I wish they'd do a re-run of!)
A girl after my own heart. I love all of those and any the show on uk drama..i love Bergerac. have you watched missing and criminal minds?:D
Hope weezl and baby weezl ok. I am still budgetting like mad and have slightly upped the budget at the moment due to college returnees and extra nutrition. still coming in at around the £3.50 mark though and some days as i am still using up my store cupboard..nothing.
Have to say i had no eggs yesterday, and teenagers hankered after the jamsponge. So made it eggless and i prefer it! jam was used from the tesco value jam range at 28p a jar..used about 5p worth ..they like a lot.:rotfl: And doubled the mix, bunged it all in one large bowl and nothing left.
Off to read the rest of the pages.
Take care BOB XBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

Hi all,
Reading of everyones gardening successes I thought I would share this with you. These days i tend to bottle a few jars, but put the rest in the freezer. Makes a really fresh tasting soup.
Now all I have to do is wait the five months before my tomatoes will be ripe! Its a cold windy early spring day here in NZ.
Tomato Soup
6.4 kg ripe tomatoes
7 large onions
8 TBS flour
2 tsp pepper
225 g butter
7 cloves
1 cup sugar
14 sprigs parsley
2 TBS non iodised salt
Cut up vegetables. Boil all inged except the flour and butter, for about 1 hour. Make a paste of melted butter and flour. Add to the mixture. Boil all for a further 1/4 hour. Pour into sterilised jars, then either process in a boiling water bath or freeze. When using thin down with milk and water.
To make a really smooth consistency, I put it through a mouli before making the paste.
Makes 6-7 quart jars
If bottling do not use low acid tomatoes.
Cheers

Wow, look at all the lurkers coming out to play, hello all:hello: :hello:
Right well today is a horrid day, I'm up at stupid o'clock coz he's got to catch the 6.25 train and when the alarm goes off I have to get up or I feel bad and achey all day. Mind you, I feel bad and achey and tired now, but that a whole 'nother hormonal story.
I'm finding a fair few veggi type recipes which I'm going to try and give a go over the weekend in an attempt to increase the numbers we eat....scary biscuits.
Okay its far too early, will maybe post later when I'm more conscious, must remember doctors appointmentNow MARRIED!11/09/100 -
Good Morning everyone. Woke up to a horrible rainy morning! Yuck!
Mrs M - Dont know where that is in Germany, will have to dig out a map. My mum currently lives in the US, but all her brothers and sisters live in Bergish Gladbach. Also, going to make a blackberry and apple cobbler or crumble today with the lovely blackberries got yesterday!
Welcome to everyone that have come out of lurkdom!!
Regarding the crime/detective series. Both DH and I are huge fans of the lot of them and watch as many as possible. Great viewing indeed.
Was just watching the news this morning and they are saying that food in general has gone up by 40% in 6 months! All the more reasons I have been so thankful to this board. Even the BBC morning news show has been doing a special each day this week on foraging in the city, seaside etc, todays show is about mushrooms.
I think it is great that more and more people are going back to basics, not only is it cheaper but by far it is much more healthy! Nothing wrong with living a simpler life, if nothing else besides being healthier I think in some respects it makes life less stressful and helps people appreciate the simpler and more important things in life, like health, happiness friends and family.
Anyway, off to make a coffee and start a bit of work. Glad it is friday which generally means the boss wont be ringing me today and gives me a chance to just sort a couple of projects and do a few things around here at home as well.
Have a great morning everyone!:A

2 frugal recipes to share today
Chocolate and lime milk pudding
1 pack lime jelly- 35p
1 large can evapourated milk-54p
1 chocolate flake - 33p(3 for 31 at local co-op)
make the jelly up as directed on the packet and allow to cool, chill the milk until really cold overnight preferably
Whisk the milk until really foamy and cream about 10 mins with an electric whisk then whisk in the cooled jelly until well incorporated crumble the flake add half to the mixture
pour mix into a serving bowl and chill once firm sprinkle over the remaining flake
serves about 10 buffet size portiond or 6-8 dessert size
Shaz's secret coleslaw mix
1/2 white cabbage shredded
1 red onion thinly sliced
grated carrot (1 big one)
all quantities are approximate
the secret is in the sauce
its a mix 3:1 of mayo and salad cream so say 3/4 jar mayo and 1/4 salad cream then add a tablespoon of coarse ground black pepper and mix well the sauce will keep a few weeks in fridge
always make the day before and add just enough sauce to coat the veg not drown it as the veg will leach a bit into the sauce #
when i was a caterer i always got compliments for my coleslaw .............yes value stuff is cheap but it tastes nothing like the real thing
