  • Mrs M try your local council website when you get back, I work for Rotherham Council and they have loads of free outdoors things including learning about foraging and mushrooming, bat walks, lantern walks, creative recycling etc. I haven't been around at the right times so far but would like to go on one.

*just noted you're not back for 4 years... oops, maybe on a visit or get someone else to go for you...

  • I freeze egg whites all the time & use them later for making meringues (or whatever), so that works fine :)
  • Thanks for the eggggcelent advice everyone! (groan!)

I think I've heard about them being coated in wax because its the fact that the shell is porous that makes them eventually go off... however, I have visions of egg candles at this rate, so I'lll probably stick to bunging them in the fridge and float-checking them! Actually I won't even do that, because I went to Mr T at lunchtime and there was no sign of the 15 for £2 offer!

Its not an offer - its a new product which is £2. They are cheaper than other free range eggs because they are mixed weights but mine were all medium ;) They are in a clear egg box with a green label that looks like this.

I bought mine on the 5th and they were dated 24th so they have good dates on them. HTH

thanks chick ;) that's good use by dates .I'll look out for them next time I'm in Mr T's and checkdates before buying. I've been having a wee think & that will help a lot I could prob get 2 lots as that would be 30 for £4.As I bake cake every week and make pancakes plus I love coddled eggs & omlettes etc I'm sure I'd be able to use them up without any probs, might even beat a few to freeze for baking with at a later date :T

Hi all.....Hope everyone is OK. Not looking for sympathy here, but just some advise really. Just found out today, that I have had another miscarriage, which is number 2. Docs wont do anything untill I have mc no. 3, so I'd really like to make my diet excellent to give us a better chance. I think I eat quite healthily, but any ideas how I can get all the vitamins in my diet and still be frugal!???? Any suggestions gratefully received.

    aww bashful huge hugs for you...it may be worth you looking here;

People can dismiss the emotional as well as physical effects (both of which ca be distressing and traumatic) so my advice generally would be to get some emotional support as well as looking at vitamins and minerals in the hunt...also to be gentle with yourself and with your oh...lots of hugs all round...Re vitamins its worth looking at getting them off internet as can be cheaper plus get things like quidco cashback...
thanks for the info re the eggs - did always wonder how you tell if theyre off!

  • Bashful....big hugs....

another experiment today, found pigs trotters on the Norwich Market, 4 for £1...got home and popped them in water, boiled then simmered them for 45minutes, then added honey and demerara sugar and put them in oven to brown...recipe I found off the net...I munched on mine happily but noone else was willing to try there's, so ended up having a non frugal/MS pizza deal for the kids and hubby...although I did use a 50% off voucher

Now in the slow cooker is the ham part of the trotters along with carrots onion, water and celery, on low for tomorrow so I'm hoping that its more of a hit otherwise it'll be MS sarnies for tea tomorrow :o it should fall off the bone come tommorow morning and then I have the option of doing other things with it i they turn their noses up to it...ho hum...
  • Hey Diva, slightly different as it is Scripture Union but very much the same idea, I have a lovely image in my head of you now as a little smiley Rapunzel :)

Learnt a valuable lesson last night- Don't drink mostof a bottle of cough syrup before bed, slept like a baby... for 10 hours... oops

Lol - actually that isn't far off, I always had long blonde hair down past my waist and my mother used to put it into two plaits for the beach with red ribbons on the end so she could find me among all the other kids :rotfl:

Hope your cough gets better soon - I have made that mistake with cough mixture before but ohhh the uninterrupted sleep was fabulous!

Big hugs to you Sian, you brought back some really happy memories for me, thank you.

    Diva. x
To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.
