Hi Shaz
That cake looks lovely and light... think i will have to use that recipe.. can i just check -should that be a 10" cake tin? just before i create chaos in the kitchen:rotfl:
cw18.... i can say that in the courgette tea bread i make you can't tell there are courgettes in there... my hubby even gave some to his friends son -who refuses to eat any veg..and he loved these -even after he was told what was in there :T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

I would love to take part more in the green fingered board as I love to grow things, esp edibles, but it can be little frosty over there sometimes
Awww Lesley I am so sorry to hear this... I am often over in the Greenfingered threads and have enjoyed my time.. Admittedly I am not on all of the threads; my faves are the 'Pepper' thread, the 'Chilli' thread and the 'Show me your veg patch' thread which is very similar to this lovely place - lots of people admiring each others work and asking questions.. so I can say with experience that not all of the greenfingered board is frosty!
I have to say I ventured into the more serious boards the other day and was suprised how abrupt some people are with newbies... seems a real shame when there is no need for it, and I am sure they stop people posting out of fear of the replies they might get!
Personally I LOVE this thread - it's the first one I come to in the mornings and I adore reading everyones tips and questions and Weezl of course, inspiring us all! Hugs to everyone who posts on here, you really make it a wonderful place to visit!:TTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Did DH eat up his nettles like a good boy, or did he go to bed hungry?
well ... i served up this delicious smelling meal ... he asked ... does this have those nettles in? i hesitated a moment, then admitted it did ... and he cleared his plate and said it was lovely!
and it was!
think i will have to wait until i see some more 'new' nettles, but then i think i may be adding them to everything!;)

that's brilliant loocyloo!! :j :j a small but significant victory!
once you overcome people's prejudices it's ok isn't it. Having said that I wanted to get some pigs trotters for dinner this week, but I don't want to take the girls into the butchers with me. I want them to eat them, hopefully enjoy them, and then I'll tell them what they've eaten. maybe i could ring the butcher and pre arrange that i will be calling in to collect some pork?weaving through the chaos...0 -
Life as been a bit hectic here to say the least, however DH has an interview tomorrow and has just gone off to meet with an agency as well. Keeping fingers crossed that it will all work out.
that's good news - at least it keeps you positive, and sometimes these things work out for the best in the long runweaving through the chaos...0 -
I have just taken my courgette cake out of the oven (along with buns to be iced and filled with jam
) it smells delicious! I used yellow and green courgettes - the yellow ones seem to disappear but there are bright green flecks from the green courgettes so I would say that if youhave fussy eaters... use yellow courgettes!! lol!

I do that a lot loocyloo - my dh can be quite fussy and muttering that he doesn't like x,y,z yet I serve it in a meal, he doesn't know and he enjoys them :rolleyes:0

well that's good news really, I am encouraged to have another go, and I will def have a look at the threads you mentioned - maybe I just chose the 'wrong' ones0 -
Thanks Shaz...courgette cake recipe duly "sent" over to my private blog (ie my diary one) - as I reckon I could probably substitute honey for the sugar in my case and should still be okay pricewise.
(Having just discovered the "Send to" button on the top banner on webpages I'm sending everything everywhere - shame it only sends things as links one has to click on - rather than the full "deal" - but links will do till I try my way through all the recipes from here I've sent over and seen which meet with my approval for laboriously typing out. Whoops - really will learn to cut and paste one of these days:o ).0
