ISOM - definately a no on illegal, though I am a bit of a lucazade addict. I'm a very hyper person really, doctor has told me I need to relax more but I have troubles with it coz I sit and stop and then think 'oh, must do this then it'll be off my mind' and then I'm moving again. Never seem to get as much done as I could though...I blame chaos theory( not sure why, but it sounds cool).

Awwwww, poor isom, what a pain! Does the yoghurt need longer to develop? I've only made it twice so I can't remember alas...

Gutting to lose all that milk, especially the happy kind.... Hope you get a great catch of strawberries, are you going to the real foods market?

Yes Ceridwen, you did sound more refined and queen's englishy than I expected! :D But I don't think I sound very Welsh tho, even after being here 16 years!

I'm not sure how Seakay worked out that AM was AM, IYSWIM, she'll have to pop on here and spill the beans!

From his end of things, he goes to a house and a slim tall lady answers and they chat briefly about the demijohns and then she says 'do you know Weezl74' and he laughs......

Today we are going to make the pies! The bacon from yesterday adds pinkness, smokiness and saltiness to the pork meat etc from the head.

I'll let you know how we get on. AM is my pastry chef today. We are not always the best of kitchen companions, when cooking, so wish us luck. Imagine Gordon Ramsey attempting to cook alongside Victor Meldrew, on a slow day......

Are we removed enough now from real pigginess that I can post pics?

    Love Weezl x

PS I read another thread on OS this morning, and was reminded how lucky I am that you are all such a friendly supportive bunch. I really am so grateful for all of your help in getting me through my challenge!:D

My love to you all :A

morning pepys! well its a definate grrr from me...#2 yog didnt work....Weezl do you want 1/2 the gloop for soda bread? Also have white flour (by the sackload but cant eat it in such huge quantities on SW!) if that would help? Let me know! As for the yog I wonder if its because it was out of date? Am mighty peed off though as thats two pints of milk gone (& cos I get happy mlk its more expensive!)...I'm using marvel dried milk as thought this ok? WIll get some rachels organic milk today, more longlife and try again. What am I doing wrong though. Yesterday I took milk out of fridge & warmed it in MW with the dried milk, added a tablespoon of yog & filled he easy yo with water just up to top of red thing it sits on (there isnt a line on mine but that means the water rises to about 1/2 way up the container). Am now determined to get it right (not stubborn just focussed :) .....The only thing I can think is the yog being OUD & the temp so will use the thermometor this time. What temp should it be? Suggestions gratefully received - I reallly was quite upset when I excitedly opened the lid & yet again runny gloop..very disheartening...

Also interested to know how they got onto the are you Mr Weezl/AM then!

Think I will go to car boot & on a cheapie strawberry hunt this am! Just having a nice brekkie!

You don't need to heat longlife/uht milk - it has already been heat-treated to kill any bugs. Has the yog mix actually curdled or is it just runny? Which fat level of milk did you use? I have never had trouble with yog starter being out of date - as long as it doesn't smell off then it should be fine...

    urm what else?

make sure the container is extremely clean (I am not saying it isn't already just scrub twice!)

how warm is the place you are leaving it? I do find outside temp does affect the batch - maybe find somewhere slightly cooler to leave it?

Hope you get a good batch soon.. there is nothing worse than failed attempts - I know.. I have done it!!

I presume you are talking about people being on their 'soapbox' (geddit??) Blimey some people need to get a life, I know I can be a bit of a zealot about moneysaving but you get a lot further with a carrot than a stick!

Hiya Isom the easi yo flask which you put water in it is warm water isnt it...

Try upping the amount of starter yoghurt

The yog i made in a flask was a bit runnier than shop bought stuff it may be your expectations are too high if its just runny you could strain through cheesecloth

I think??????yog temp is same as bread so late 30 early 40 (like me)degrees

WEEZL i know what you mean about some other boards some i have been on people are downright rude it's a shame there was one specifically i had an interest in but darent ask a question ....

bunny200 and Shaz and carrie B, yep bunny, that's the one, sad eh? Shaz aren't we lucky to have a nice community going on here? Carrie, it's great here innit?!

    Piggy pie updates:

Made an enormous ball of pastry, with over 1kg of flour and have mixed minced bacon, sage, black pepper, thyme into the boiled down pig's head mix i prepared yesterday. Having been refridgerated overnight, I gave myself horrid chilblains with the mixing by hand, ouch!

both this bowl and the blue bowl behind are crammed full of pie filling!

Oh my word how are we going to store this?!
