Is it like a recipe book, or is it a story book of mad foraging debacles?:D

Hmmmmn. Perhaps I'll just stick to me day job!;)

    Weezl x

I reckon it's a diary based on the threads, recipes inserted as and when (but indexed! ;) ) and lavishly illustrated with fab photos.
I'm not sure what to do with the pig's head photos... perhaps a fold-out section at the end with a warning for the squeamish! They are too important to the story so far to be omitted.
Oh, and I bought cottage cheese this afternoon on the strength of this thread, 49p from Netto, it's a lot more at Tesco. No pigs' heads... but as a non-meat-eater I reckon if an animal is going to die to be food, it's better not to waste any. JMO!

  • Got a bit carried away in Asda..well i haven't been out for a bit, but reckon that i am not needing to shop for the rest of the month bar fresh milk and eggs! she says fingers crossed..

saying that i have bought a lot of the offer stuff and value range tins and some baking things for a wedding cake i am making..so total is £26, and i got a lot! can't believe how much, my total so far for the month is edging over £50, but i did say at the beginning that some things are for DD2 and that also includes toiletries, so i am quite chuffed.

Right back to planning and cooking..as batch of scones i made yesterday is gone..so so if Weezl needs any more pigs, i reckon i have a few residing in my house..of the greedy variety!

Its slave to the machine day. The oven that is, as well as my roast-ness I'm also having a mad cookathon, the plan is, peanut butter cookies (some with jelly beans some without), hummous, lemon and white choc muffins ( white choc a freebee) gonna have to do some of the choc cookies that weezl pictured yesterday, they looked gorg! And maybe some pate to mix it up. Then I might clean the oven, you never know:D .

Well this morning was a bit of a trial, went to Tescos but I have to go past Next to get to it and they're having a 'all half price or less sale'. I had to go in (after I'd been to tescos), but I think you guys have done brain surgery or something coz I kept looking at stuff and thinking, do I need it really, do I? WWWD (What would weezl do) and actually left with nothing without feeling like I forced myself to leave. So in a roundabout way THANK YOU all!!!!!!!

Now if I could just figure out where I put my awakedness.....

His hands and hair perchance? I would remember them from the photos on last thread - so if a tall young man in Cardiff was after freegan food/drink type stuff - think I might click!:D

I'll just go off and have a little grin to myself now at one of Weezl's first comments when I rang her up at the end of the first thread (as she knows where I come from) "But you dont have a (insert appropriate part of country) accent!":D ;)

morning pepys! well its a definate grrr from me...#2 yog didnt work....Weezl do you want 1/2 the gloop for soda bread? Also have white flour (by the sackload but cant eat it in such huge quantities on SW!) if that would help? Let me know! As for the yog I wonder if its because it was out of date? Am mighty peed off though as thats two pints of milk gone (& cos I get happy mlk its more expensive!)...I'm using marvel dried milk as thought this ok? WIll get some rachels organic milk today, more longlife and try again. What am I doing wrong though. Yesterday I took milk out of fridge & warmed it in MW with the dried milk, added a tablespoon of yog & filled he easy yo with water just up to top of red thing it sits on (there isnt a line on mine but that means the water rises to about 1/2 way up the container). Am now determined to get it right (not stubborn just focussed :) .....The only thing I can think is the yog being OUD & the temp so will use the thermometor this time. What temp should it be? Suggestions gratefully received - I reallly was quite upset when I excitedly opened the lid & yet again runny gloop..very disheartening...

Also interested to know how they got onto the are you Mr Weezl/AM then!

Think I will go to car boot & on a cheapie strawberry hunt this am! Just having a nice brekkie!

    Hi ISOM

W...a....y. back I made yogurt successfully with a food flask. Just put in relevant bits and leave. Sorted.

Did find that kefir making was easy though - just put the bits together and put in airing cupboard with teatowel over the top of bowl and leave 24 hours (giving a teeny stir say every few hours). I didnt think it tasted like....(expletive deleted!) myself. I like it personally. Some people talk about the first few batches having to be thrown out before it "settles down" into goodtasting - so maybe thats what they are referring to (ie some from the first few batches). Personally - I was using it from the outset.

Just taken lemon muffins out of the oven and they smell yummy yummy yummy!:j forgot to put the choc i though...annoying but oh well, guess I can eat it to console myself. I've got dough proving for bagels using Mrs McCawbers recipe.

Debating a trip to Mr A, already been to Mr T this morning (and it's not even nine...this is were having to get up at ridiculous o'clock gets you) to buy some parsnips and carrots for tonight. Want to get some of the 50p butter since I'm using a fair amount of my stocks today, if they actually have any. Decisions, decisions....nope never been very good at them...
