Anyone else sensing some SPAM on this thread?
I fancy Rosetta Stone as well, although I have just taken out the Michael Thomas Spanish set from the library so I'll try that first (if I ever stop playing on my Wii!)x

Not your post mm, was looking at the first three (and in particular the first one, who could do with a course in English!) ...
The Wii is constructive - I am currently running a book on how long it will take me to pull a muscle!!! xGone ... or have I?0 -
Deutsche Welle has a variety of courses at all levels, materials for teachers of German, and slowly-spoken news reports for listening practice. http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,2142,2469,00.html
Conjugation trainer and vocabulary trainer available from http://www.vocabulix.com/
Excellent online language exercises linked to Themen Neu coursebook

And don't forget to google eTandem and FriendsAbroad for native speakers who can help you learn German in return for help with their English studies.0 -
The BBC site is great, Rosetta Stone costs an arm and a leg, I find Micheal Thomas rather monotonous.
Found this, very interactive and loads of differen languages.
Makes learning fun

A great podcast, which in its basic form is free, is Coffee Break Spanish; it took me from zero to a reasonable performer in tourist/shopping situations.
You can subscribe (free) through iTunes, at

Hi all,
Anyone ever tried to learn a language by using skype?
There seem to be quite a few websites that claim to be free and hook you up with someone who would like to learn english but not sure which of them are any good?
There seem to be loads of wierdos on skype (had a go at the "skypecasts") so I dont want to meet any oddballs just someone who wants to learn english while I learn spanish!
This site suggests a few - anyone got any recommendations?
