OS DAILY Tuesday 1st July what a lovely day

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Its my first time doing this so bear with me I havent gone to bed yet and thought I would stay up to see the day and its a lovely day

Its cool and dry and the birds are awake which makes it sound brilliant

hope you enjoy your day too

    Morning Kaat_Lady
You are an early bird. I thought I was doing well and I am an hour ahead of you at the moment. You will find 6 am (UK time) the normal start time for us here.

Sorry if this is going to confuse some of you my mail growing para by para, but have lost so many posts in the last few days which is why I haven't been here, I have read/written, but s*d's law has kicked in.

Hi Beth - see you slipped in, looks like it is a bright start in your neck of the woods. DS was not too happy yesterday as it was a nice evening and he had to work over. Hope you manage o knock your two DB's heads together and sort them out. It's still v. hot over here.

Belated Anniversay Wishes to the Moiliere's  & the Kyle's, belated wedding congratulations to Squishy & Twinks DS:beer: , and finally belated Birthday wishes to :j Kyle's DS:j . and I think I have it right, Anniversary wishes to Pippa.S (we close behind with 35 in Nov:eek:  )

Welcome and   to all the newbies or nearly newbies I have missed during my connection nightmare. Hi Almo - is there something about Australian's - do they have a love affair with Lettuce?? You would need to back read regarding Aussie Lass's tales of Lettuce.

I went spending yesterday ladies, I know naughty, but we had had enough. We got the fridge/freezer when we got this place 5.1/2 years ago, as part of a start up pack, and while it "does the job", is not idea, it is only a C rating, it is upside down as we prefer the fridge on the top and the Freezer on the bottom, it is not Frost Free and freezes up very quickly, so after trying to hang on for a better Euro/£ rate bit the bullet and got that and a new extractor for the cooker yesterday, as always here you barter to a bit better price, they were both already on offer with 100€ off the FF, so offered us a "gift" of a small electrical item, as the toaster had died, we selected one of those. Got a Fagor one with a 7 year guarantee and a can cool bag as a free gift with it(?), chiller (0 degree) drawer, and 3 freezer drawers. It is the top make out here, and believe me the fridge/freezer is something you cannot live without. Called at the second hand shop we had used before to dispose of the old items, and new people had taken over, really helpful, and eager to do business (they had run out of s/h fridges or f/f's) called round last night at gone 7 after working since 10 in over 30 degrees. But as they said the shop was busy and that meant their business was working and they were paying their way, it is hard here to make a living, but if you are prepared to work hard, it can be beneficial.

Better cut this short as it is turning into a M-ing, so :grouphug: (((big gentle hugs))) :grouphug: to all those in need, there are many of you at the moment, Annie, Smoky, Pen-Pin to name but a few. Good luck with the Ofsted Beemuzed - No they will find something to nit pick over, you know what they say, they who can teach - others tell you how! NickyM my reaction to comments re cooking it, either eat it and don't complain or do it yourself, or OK then Egg and Chips OK in the future? (me being a stroppy so-and-so) as some of the others will tell you.

Right will close now - Happy July - have a good July and a good Tuesday. Take care - DG

n.b. Apologies Thanks button not working either

Forgot to say what a good match the Murray one was in the end. He plays Nadal next, which is not going to be easy. Is it me or did Murray just look like he was out for a game in park with the tee-shirts, there was no style to them, and didn't show off his physique he is said to have built up. Think he needs to take lesson from Nadal on dressing to please the fans.

Morning all, and hello to those who follow!

It's a sunny day here in Melbourne but it's SO windy. I got up a couple of times in the night because I could hear glass shattering and I was getting a little worried about having our balcony door open (I can't sleep well with it closed). We had to close it in the end as the wind whistling in from the balcony and then under the front door was horrendous. Things are a bit chaotic outside today, and I think some areas are without power and there have been a few trees down. Haven't heard of any serious injuries - the last time we had such high winds two people were killed.

Have been to the gym today but that wasn't too successful - my hip flexor is giving me quite a lot of pain. Went to the market this morning for some F&V and treated us to some fillet steak. I wanted to get some chocolate for cooking from the chocolate stall but they'd sold out of the dark choc chips so will have to send OH on Saturday while I'm at work. Bit wary of letting him loose on the chocolate stall but I'll have to have faith!

Just had a late lunch of HM meatballs, and as I'm trying to cut down on the HUGE amount of carbs I eat, had shredded lettuce instead of pasta. It's surprisingly convincing as a pasta substitute!

Other than that a quiet day. 3 days at work this week and then a two week semester break which sounds great but it means no money for me, which isn't so hot. Watching imported UK tv at the moment and am off to the cinema with a friend later.

Hope you all have a lovely day :D

Good morning Kaat - or should that be good night?!

Well, it's a lovely start to the day here; I think I'll change the sheets today - it's going to be a good day for drying.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, MrsMix, Jayward, Beth and her DBs, Candygirl and her Dad, Anniestar and all those in need.

CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello: haven't seen you for a while. I think I remember you saying you had a sore throat or something a few days ago? If so, get well soon.

Dinner at DS2's was lovely yesterday; my future DIL did a lovely toad-in-the-hole with mash and veggies and we all enjoyed the fresh fruit salad I took over. I also took a loaf of BM bread (I didn't try them on my first Artisan loaf; that needs to be tested by me first!) It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside for a while watching the cat demonstrate the new catflap - having had to ask to be let in and out, and waking everyone up in the process, he is really making the most of his independence! It reminded me of a child with their first bike!

I stayed till about 9pm then came home in time for DH's call from France. It reached 36 degrees there yesterday so, as they worked round the pool, they kept jumping in it; if you're going to work in the heat of the summer, then working near a pool has got to be the best way to do it! They stopped at lunchtime for a few hours then worked into the evening and were all cream-crackered by the time he phoned.

Anyway, today is going to be a day for pottering, doing some filing and making a proper start on the wedding favours. I ordered the Love Hearts for them on eBay at the weekend so they should turn up soon. I am also waiting for my Remoska to turn up - I'm really looking forward to trying that.

Well, I'm going to have another cuppa then jump in the shower.

    See you all later.

Morning. I was not one for staying up all night either.

Managed over 2/3 of my wall yesterday which is good for me as I am paying the building by the hour and not the job. So I could save some money this way and re-invest it in the garden somewhere else. I have some decking or patio stuff to think about.....perhaps.

OH has got a teacher job interview today. This is the only job she applied for so it's all the egss in one basket. Getting an interview was great anyway.... Fingers crossed. She is incredibly stressed, so I am trying to stay out of the way. So it could be party time tonight or should have said this or that....

Well it's a nice day, better get the mixer out.

    Cheers

Hi Donny - thanks for the belated Happy Anniversary wishes! I hope you can get a better connection soon - that is so frustrating, isn't it?

Beth - I've read Falling Leaves - in fact, I read as many books about Chinese history as I can get my hands on. It's something I'm really interested in. The very best book I can recommend is Wild Swans by Jung Chang which is impossible to put down once you start. It's my second favourite book after Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor (which is about Restoration England, not China!). I am also reading Mao - The Untold Story, also co-written by Jung Chang, which is a huge book and quite heavy-going but fascinating. I was wondering what book to take on the 'hen' do at the weekend but you've made me decide to take Wild Swans - the last time I read it was about ten years ago!

    Morning all

Lovely day here again on the Planet Thanet.

HUGS TO ANNIESTAR, JAYWARD, CANDYGIRL AND HER DAD, PEN PIN AND ANYONE I'VE MISSED.

NIKKIM if some one had said that about my cooking I would have told them to do it themselves!!!!

KAAT hope you got some sleep, I know what you mean about that time in the morning.

Can just see little cat sat on the top on my fence post in the sunshine looking at something interesting. He's so naughty, he's probably going to jump on big cat.

Not much planned today except studying this morning. Have garden club at lunch at the school and then will go to the allotment for an hour, otherwise the temptation to go to sleep is too great and it makes me feel so rotten.

No idea about tea. DS has a friend coming around and they want fish fingers, chips, beans and jelly.

    Have a good day all.
