Evening everyone! Lots of frugacise being done, good to see :T Really pleased to hear your brother is looking so much better Sophiesmum.
Had a good run at the market this morning- cherries for OH for 50p, 15 satsumas for £1 and, best of all, 30 red peppers for £3 :j:j We like 10p a pepper! Went back and got Marru and Monkey 2 lots of satsumas as well
Then went into town with Mum on the park and ride, had lunch and went to see Mamma Mia (Mum's 3rd time :rotfl:) and did a miniscule amount of wedding dress shopping. Mum paid for everything, even some hair scrunchies and I only managed to get away with paying for the busI am very grateful! When we got home the men had done a lot of work and we now have 3 separate bedrooms :T That's the kind of division of labour I like to see :rotfl:

No frugalising done here I am afraid. Had to go to the shop as had run out of piggy food and tea so ended up picking up some other stuff (like chocolate
) and then to really blow it went to the chippy again. Perhaps blew the budget and diet (AGAIN) but have here now two happy full tummies. Oh and yesterday evening had heating on and heated water for hot bath and then I was so nice and hot in a warm house when I went to bed having my hot water bottle (=dog) with me.
I have decided to have two weeks break from my diet and then 1st of September find out the total damage to my finances and my weight loss attempt as that is when DD is back to nursery.
I got cencored today by freecycle mod, I was trying to borrow a small fridge until I get my new one and I was told that I can ask for a fridge and then offer it again at freecycle as their purpose is to minimise people buying new things but for me borrowing a small fridge means that I don't have to buy one of these mini fridges to carry me over. Oh well - I personally know one of the mods so we shall see what her opinion of the situation is.
Hope all you have a good and relaxing evening,
Marru"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Yeah sorry Marru but them's the rules! Freecycle's sole purpose is to prevent things ending up in landfill. The way to do it is to word your request carefully so that you say you need it for a short time and are happy to Freecycle it again afterwards. People understand what that means and may well offer to lend you something they want back. We have SOO many complaints about people not sticking to the rules that we have to enforce them or get our ears bitten off 10s of times a day! People forget that we are just volunteers trying to help out a little :rolleyes:The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Sophiesmum, so sorry to hear your news, I'll be thinking of you.
I've had a frugal day. Bought a small freerange chicken from the local butchers. Guess how much? Guess how much? £2.50!! Had roast chicken dinner, got enough leftovers for chicken salad tomorrow, sandwiches in the week, and maybe a risotto. And now got the remains on the stove making lovely stock.
That's about it for me today. Haven't done my figures, but I have cleaned the place from top to bottom and it looks great. Am now perched on the corner of the sofa as don't want to upset my cushions and make the place look untidy!

Managed to fit in a swim tonight as OH had cleaned the whole house whilst I was hospital visiting this afternoon, and even did the washing:kisses3: .He isn't very good with emotional support, runs a mile if he sees me crying:o but is great at showing he cares in practical ways.
Tomorrow I need to get into the garden at least long enough to pick the hundreds of runner beans which I have been meaning to pick every day this week.I will have to blanch and freeze them as there are tonnes. Hope it stops raining:rolleyes:
Bails and dfw -- great bargains:T :T
Must go and update sig with todays spends, and not forgetting £21 I have given my friend to get me a jelly stand etc from lakeland shop so £79 today:eek:0 -

Hi guys,
special hello to Mrs whitewing, welcome 'home' and sending hugs to Sophiesmum to share with all her family and to Marru, hope your cold goes away quickly.
Today I have spent most of the afternoon numbercrunching after going for second viewing of the 'frugal building project'. We just love the place, despite all the complications and 'skintiness' it could involve! Best part is the neighbours, who would be perfectly suited to join our frugal forum as they are also wannabe self-sufficientish but already have greenhouses, ducks, chickens and an orchard of apples, plums and assorted fruit bushes!I think I could get on really well with them! For all I know, they may even already be on this forum? Did any of you have some mad woman keep you chatting for 2 hours in the rain this afternoon about livestock, pets and gardens whilst time was supposed to be spent viewing the place next door?
:rotfl: Ach, if they aren't on here then I'll invite them first chance I get. I sooooooooooo want that 'frugal building project'. (I would call it a house, but there just isn't enough of it there to go that far.) But there is a garden and space for chickens and a goat!

nykmedia that sounds so exciting - I really hope you get it if all the numbers work out and it's really what you want. With all your frugal ways you should be able to do it up in no time on a budget - and anyway, once it's yours it doesn't matter how long it takes
It seems to have rained north and south today but we had a lovely day in the midlands. I got all the window sills rubbed down and undercoated. Hoping to gloss tomorrow. Mum came on Thursday and said how smart the house looked - and I hadn't started the painting. think she needs her glasses changing but didn't like to say.
bails - 10p peppers!! envy!! i woulds have bought 100's
My new piggies have settled in well. All 3 on the lawn today 'cut' about 6 square meters. Saves getting the lawn mower out.
I have to stay up for the marathon tonight - starts 12.20, till about 2. DH has gone to bed and I have to get him up at midnight.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
Thanks Looby-Loo, I'd love to think we could pull this off but it would mean severely tightening belts even further as we'd need to continue renting until the conversion/building became habitable and we could only afford that for about 6 months before things could go pear-shaped. Trust us to spot a potential fixy up in the 2nd half of the year when most of the heavy domestic spending is incurred! And I daren't touch DD's wedding fund! :eek:I reserve the right not to spend.

nyk, it sounds amazing - that's the kind of house and garden i want when i get older!
or can afford it. I'm sure you will manage it somehow.
I've had a NSD today, so that's a good thingI preordered Gossip Girl season one off play.com ages ago, and it arrived today :j so that'll mean that the money will come out of my account soon I suppose - will update sig when it does. I love dvds - they are my one weakness! I don't know if I told you guys, but I'm in the process of applying for a full time job - my first! - and I've got an interview on thursday, after passing a maths online test and a telephone interview, so wish me luck!
