Live on £4000 for a year - Part 3

I did think about that, Bails, but the patch of land at the accessible side of the river is just big enough for parking once it's excavated, levelled and reinforced to prevent it falling down the embankment as soon as works begin. Not sure how much upheaval building a bridge amounts to, but I'm sure it involves heavy machinery of some description. Am I mad for even considering such a project? The bridge size falls outwith the sizes available for gardens because, I think, of some new legislation to do with health & safety and we can't alter the river in any way to narrow it. Apart from that, there's no access for machinery to the other side to start any such work. :rotfl:
Yipee! I am a confirmed crazy frugalite who needs an emergency degree in civil engineering, a small boat and a heapload of cash! Oh! This I like! Pity the embankments are so steep, though, as the boat would sit beneath the land level at all times. Not much of a view and rubbish if there was ever a landslide.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Nyk how about hiring a few beavers to build a dam?
Or do you have a freind called Moses?0 -
Nyk - what you need is a man in uniform(don't we all:D ): write to the Royal Engineers - they're always looking for 'training projects' and bridge building problem solving.
Sophies mum - this is truely dreadful what has happened to your brother. Thank goodness he is being looked after now.
I've been away at a family wedding. Spent today doing loads of batch cooking and really enjoying it. Roasted all the peppers I got on friday to bacth freeze (can't beat bails bargain 10p ones though - these were 25p.) Large cauldron of sweet potato soup now divied up and in freezer as is 2 lots of moroccan stew. Tonight dinner was yummy belly of pork in slow cooker - a new 'joint' of meat for us and much cheaper than the pork chops I was using. Its a slightly adapted delia cheat recipe (corgette, white wine, roasted peppers) and is very nomnomnom.
Having bulk bought lots of fresh herbs and spices I see that you are supposed to store them in the dark. 99% of jars available are see through. Any suggestions anyone?
Janie - I like the aubergene idea (have dark aub bedding myself with sage green walls in our bed sittingroom) I also thought of burnt orange - a really strong, warm contrast to the gentle muted coloues of grey and lavender.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

Hi all,
Slowlyfading, is your laptop still under warranty, as it doesn't seem any time since you bought it?
Janey, no Moses friends but there is a nearby tree if we could enlist the help of some beavers. Hmm... but I do like the sound of Brighton Belle's idea (many thanks) - men in uniform! Sounds just the job! I wonder where the nearest 'branch' is, pardon the pun! :rotfl: I may even have to buy the place purely to invite the engineers along on a training exercise!
Herbs in the dark - I wonder why herb & spice racks are open fronted if dried herbs and spices are supposed to be stored in the dark? Could you use a shoebox or an old biscuit tin? Or maybe you could find an apothicary table for a dollar at Pottery Barn, just like Rachel told Phoebe in 'Friends'? Freecycle, maybe? Looby-Loo's blanket box! That could have done the job!I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

At my nephews wedding yesterday we had Royal Marine buglars giving the bridal party a fanfair 4 ft in front of us. Very yum:D

If is only few months old then it should still be on warranty. Contact the place that sold it to you tomorrow. I am sure they can help to sort it out."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I bought my fridge online last year and the seller had help numbers by manufacturer on their website and that is how I got in touch with them. You probably bought yours directly form manufacturer as I don't think Dell uses any distribution channels so that should make it easier for you. Just don't take any rubbish from them like it will be ok if you reboot it etc..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
